MasterChef Canada S06 E10 Full Episode: The final four home cooks arrived at the Canadian Canoe Museum and divided in pairs of 2 for a team challenge cook-off to honour Indigenous agriculture for a shot at immunity. Each team had to create a three course menu consisting of three dishes that honor the Three Sisters ingredients: corn in the appetizer, beans in the entree, and squash in the dessert. With the best winning dish from the last challenge, Andre was given the advantage choosing his teammate. Andre selected Jennifer, leaving Cryssi with Josh as the other team by default. Andre and Jennifer won the challenge, automatically advancing to the semifinals. Subscribe: / masterchefworld
As the losing team, Cryssi and Josh faced each other in a pressure test for the last spot in the semifinals. They were given the challenging task of replicating a tempered chocolate sphere dessert consisting of a pistachio genoise sponge cake and topped with bruléed figs, accompanied by a caramel sauce. Despite his initial nervousness in baking such a difficult dessert, Josh performed smoothly and produced a near perfect, well executed dish, although his pistachio cake was slightly dry. Cryssi miscalculated the timing of filling her mould with her tempered chocolate, which quickly solidified, only covering three quarters of the interior. Cryssi then had to create another one using a balloon, resulting in a lumpy and dull chocolate egg-shaped sphere. Despite her spot-on flavours, Cryssi was sent home and Josh advanced to the semifinals.

Crissy should have still used her sphere instead of the balloon

if you watch closely at 30:51 you can see that she already attempted it twice (there was another failed sphere on the table), and at that point, her tempered chocolate has already cooled down way too much. Retempering another batch would take up a lot of time, so the balloon was probably her only option.

Krissi demonstrates superior culinary skills compared to Josh, owing to her greater creativity in the field. Josh's success was largely due to luck, as Krissi's chocolate sphere did not accurately resemble the required replica. Should Krissi advance to the top three, I am confident that the finale will feature only Jennifer and Krissi. When compared to Andre's abilities, Krissi possesses the expertise to surpass him.

I'm from Denmark but for some reason i'm always following the Canadian MasterChef or also the Canadian Chopped......maybe because in the case of MasterChef, i prefer the Canadian one over the American, because the judges in the latter are always full of ego & drama while the Canadian MC's judges are less egotistic & the focus is always on the contestants.

Corn indigenous to Canada? Lol! There wasn't so much as a kernel there until after Colombus.

Not true, the Huron tribe was a known corn producer
@MxMe-su1ch
@MxMe-su1ch 11 күн бұрын
@sudippatel3360 before 1492, nobody grew corn north of Mesoamerica. One of the chefs even said it tasted like Colombian corn. It was imported into the region in the 1500s. There's nothing Canadian about it. Three Sisters agriculture didn't hit the Eastern US and Canada until the 1600s.
@sudippatel3360
@sudippatel3360 11 күн бұрын
@@MxMe-su1ch Yes it’s true that three sisters agriculture didn’t really take off until Columbus, but it was and remains a staple food of indigenous cultures and peoples. The challenge is a first nations cuisine challenge, so using the three sisters is a reasonable ask imo.

You are correct though in saying that it’s not native to Canada, my bad.
@MxMe-su1ch
@MxMe-su1ch 11 күн бұрын
@@sudippatel3360 I disagree. There is so much more to indigenous culture than Three Sisters agriculture. More than enough for truly indigenous cooking to shine. And MC Canada has had this problem in the past. Like their South American episode where 75% of the ingredients weren't even South American. Saffron rice? Seriously?
