I'm honestly not sure why these comments are all so negative. The content here revolves around a niche community, fashion isn't for everyone. I'm not too into fashion myself, but I think there are other things I can learn from Anna aside from fashion related things, and I enjoy listening to her share her views and thoughts.

Anna Wintour and Hammish are fascinating and unique people. Loved watching and listening to their stories and wisdom. Anna's thoughts about clarity and making quick decisions. She credits learning these skills from watching her father work. It was fun to see a softer side of Anna when she talks about feeling fortunate to be sheltered in place with her family. Her description of watching her spring garden develop was lovely. LOVE the Madonna story and that Anna took great joy in featuring Madonna on Vogue's cover...several times. I see great respect between these two...this was fun, thank you!

Go to a well known technical school that offers internships in the industry. As a result of these internships and their individual talent, both of my daughters are very high up. One in fashion, (designer/dept. head, famous name designer) and the other a graphic designer and self taught photographer in the music industry, both in New York. The younger one incidentally, photographed the Spring campaign of a well known designer last week.

Anna speaks to a fashion industry that is at a crossroads. Transatlantic flights to fashion shows leaving carbon footprints, fast fashion that winds up in landfills, the never-ending theme of consumerism-more, more, more. Fashion provides many jobs and couture is wearable art, but at what point do we all need forgo fashion to save the planet?
@malovina3 жыл бұрын
I think it's starts with the individual who purchases in addition to companies finding ways to recycle fashion (i.e. Nike and shoes etc). You can send a powerful message by how you consume. Every time we swipe that c/c, we send a message. :)
@Tismeabbie3 жыл бұрын
@@malovina can’t agree with you more. I don’t and haven’t bought fast fashion for a long time. I buy good quality to last, I get things altered to fit me, I take good care of clothes and shoes and I donate them or recycle them. It’s all about what you do with your purchasing power. The individual is responsible for what they buy.
@thereiwas574 Жыл бұрын
@@malovina thrs a limit to what individuals can do. At the end of the day, it is fashion companies who have the production capabilities and power to do the most. Recycling is seriously ineffective and is greatly limited. It’s the fashion industry’s responsibility to start cutting back, instead of believing the long drawn out “vote by your dollar” principle (we dont have time for that)

Insightful. I learned a bit more about Vogue and the challenges the fashion industry is facing now. However, From what she says we can expect some changes in the future which may move away from the norms we know. I think the fund for young fashion designers is a great idea. I agree with her, the pandemic has given us reflection time and more importantly time for ourselves and family. I took some pointers on her leadership style too. Thanks for sharing.

All I hear is a conversation, "I had a conversation" .. "I had a conversation..." I had a conversation".... So.. is leadership a conversation or action? or both or Anyhow, I am writing this in 2021... so finally, some just carried on as normal. What was the change? Besides being distant. Social distant fashion. Ohh and sustainability. Whatever?
@rubyjeanne16673 жыл бұрын
No one who blusters on about "conversations" (Such as Meghan Markle) ever really do ANYTHING actually. They just word-salad their way into the movement thus appearing to actually contribute and "do good" Hollywood elite, fashion elite, and "influencers" (gag!) are all so hypocritical. Vogue is a shell of what it used to be. Anna has weakened in her role at the helm of the magazine. Not to mention how she cast out Andre Leon Tally. Vogue magazine is great birdcage liner.
