Dogg, man, push-ups on the "Wixey" cue. We did three sets of fifty by the 0:40 mark. We had to drop the number down to 25 per set so that we could continue. There were "nineteen times that you said, "Wixey," but you didn't give us much recovery time.There it was "Nova," for two hundred, Dogg. Thank goodness you took the tree away. Awesome as usual. I'd be mad if I spent that kind of money on a Nova and then had to get an add on anything. So , we here at the Meat studio, were thinking with all the after market items added to your Nova, you could have probably made that Ryobi into a sweet, sweet woodworking machine.

Haha! I know right, I tend to hang onto a word and go with it. Just wait until my "last shop tour" video is posted in the next week or so.. Even I was like, geez, how many times am I going to say "shop"! I hear you with the nova and the aftermarket things. I wonder if I would have spent 2 grand on that ryobi if I could have gotten it kicking ass. I don't think there was enough lipstick in the world to get that pig up to nova standards!. Thanks as always for making me laugh this morning Meat! :)

Haha! I love old cars like that! Reminds me of high school when everyone would fix up old cars like that and burn them out in front of highschool. You don't see enough of old cars like those on the road anymore! Thanks so much for watching David!

Interesting. I'd like to the same final test with the table placed in at least two different levels.

Same. He spent a lot of time talking about the importance of the Z axis, and then didn't demonstrate whether it was calibrated correctly. This video needs a follow up, especially since he said no other video on YT talks about the Z axis

You guys are soooo correct. Maybe I'll do a short showing this. I can't believe I didn't incorporate this into the video. Thank you for pointing this out!

10:23 I have had a Wixey for years and couldn't make it work. Have tried your process and still it goes out of adjustment as soon as I change the table height. I think the small screws are not for a z axis but just a fine adjustment for the x and y. The laser seems like a good idea but it simply doesn't work if you want to change your table height.

This is a great comment Paul, I've been using this system for a few months now, and I am encountering similar problems. I typically set the x/y axis everytime I use it just to confirm everything is in alingment. Once it's set it's great, but if there is table movement at all, it doesn't seem to be that accurate. I need to do followup vidoes on many of these tools I've covered in the past. Thank you for sharing!

@@FlynndoggWoodwork I was wondering whether height would have an impact, is there anything available that the table height does not affect?
@FlynndoggWoodwork6 ай бұрын
@@shaunhill2466 That is a great question. This tool is supposed to do it, but I haven't had much luck, that being said it is very easy to realign the lasers with just a turn of the knob.

I just bought one of these locally in the UK after watching this video. My drill press is an old Ajax bench drill but is quite large. I can guarantee that the eventual misalignment has nothing to do with table height or any movement of it. Table movement would not move the original alignment as it has nothing to do with the table, it would always stay aligned to the spindle centre. I can verify that vibration & the frequency thereof, eventually moves the cross hairs. I first set mine up with a 1mm drill bit & so, had the drill running at it's highest speed. As soon as i turned the drill on, I could literally see the cross hairs swaying left to right & wouldn't stop. I slackened tension off the belt to reduce vibration & the cross hairs stayed put. If your cross hairs don't misalign over time but are wrong as soon as you move the table, it's either a defective unit or your table isn't at 90 degrees to the spindle to start with. There's not much point in putting a 90 degree marked board on a wonky table.

Wish the laser used a green one
@FlynndoggWoodwork Жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately, looks like it only comes in red. This may be a stupid question, but are there advantages of the green lasers? Are they easier to see? Just curious!
@LordHog Жыл бұрын
@@FlynndoggWoodwork Two items for me. Green laser is a bit sharper for my eyes. Red laser tend to be a bit more fuzzy for me. Second, our eyes are more sensitive to the green wavelength and easier to see, especially when more ambient light is present
@FlynndoggWoodwork Жыл бұрын
@@LordHog Excellent, You know I think the green laser would be easier to see. Since my shop is so lit, I really do have a hard time seeing the red sometimes. Thanks so much for filling me in, that was helpful!

wixey should pay you for this. those bastards just sent it out with very little explanations. for example, how to use on radial saw and how to use the provided extension.
