Gosh! I bought and used one of these pots years and years ago but I didn't have success. Now I know why! I planted directly into the top pot. You kept it in its plastic pot and put it in the container! I wish I had been given better instructions! Thank you!

Great tips! I bought one a couple of months ago. It's my very first african violet. I've been bottom watering and seams happy. Coincidently I have a similar pot but no hole. I love that pot but I thought it was cursed because nothing would last until I planted a snake plant in it. I would love to know about repotting in a larger pot. Mine is still in its nursery pot sitting in a 4" ceramic pot.

The bottom watering 2-part pots are the thing that makes it work! The pot I’m using currently is for a 4” African Violet. I’m working on a video that talks about repotting to a larger pot and what size bottom-watering pots are available. Thanks for the comment - I appreciate it!

You have to take the AV out of the plastic pot and put it in the clay pot right?

No. I leave it in the plastic pot. It will draw up the water in the plastic pot.

I see that you didn’t remove the African violet out of the nursery pot you put in right into double planter. So I thought you had to remove it. I just bought the pot from Etsy for about 35.00 because I could find one at goodwill . I love African violet but they are a little picky .

@@AnnetteAcevedo-l9z Yes. I put it right in the double planter. To this day mine is still in the original 4” pot

So I think wicking your African Violet is actually the secret, not having a certain pot. You can find instructions on line on how to wick your plants, not just African violets but other aroid type plants by using yarn and using it as a wick. It would take me a long time to be able to buy 30.00 pots for all my plants!

@@mikeboothe I’ll look into that! Thank you!

I just use regular terracotta planters and put the planter in a bowl of warm water for about a half hour to water from the bottom. I’ve had the same plant for about 20 years. I’ve also propagated at least a dozen new plants from the leaves.

Great video but….the music is competing with your voice, and is very distracting. No music please! 🙏
