@ 24:40 we are talking about the LLE. I am confused as to which layer is which. I'm on my first wash with salt water. I'm in a sep funnel. Lighter gold color on top, purplish color thicker stuff on the bottom. Which one is my organic layer and which is my aqueous? I thought my organic layer was on top.

in probably the most cases you are using heptane which is lighter or more bouyant than water but DCM is the opposite. It will be at the bottom.
