Thanks for the video Sean! I'm using your approach to mixing (ie: Not a lot of processing on the mix bus/master, pushing faders harder when mixing) just to reset my mentality with it and breaking from that mould! Always great content and helpful info on your channel...I have learned a lot from your tutorials and really appreciate you sharing all your knowledge here for free! Question for you tho...What would you say is the best way to go about mastering a track...Would you go with Ozone which seems to have all the tools you need in one plugin or would you go with multiple plugins like Waves plugins?

it comes down to workflow / preference. Going the Waves route is more powerful / flexible in my opinion (lots more plugin options) although Ozone is an all-in-one solution with excellent mastering modules

Question... he uses MaxxBass at the end. If you can, is it better to go back and use that in the mixing process on the actual bass instrument, or is there a reason he's using it specifically in the mastering process???

It's perfectly fine to use it in the mix process, too. In certain sessions, you get to mastering and find that it needs some enhancement in the low end overall.

Hey Sean. QUESTION: if I wanted to export all files from a session that I have mixed to a certain point and bring them into another mixer's session, how would I keep the mix as it is with bus/send fx printed as well etc...I ask because when exporting files in logic it does not print the bus/send fx to/with the channel/audio files. If you or anyone knows of this solution, it would be very helpful.

you need to go to the mixer, right click on the aux tracks and select "create track". this will put the aux tracks in the arrange window and it will bounce those also when using "export all tracks"

Yo Sean, is it the miking technique that has the vocals sitting back in the mix like that or is that done with lowering the volume and reverb/delay? Also was this recorded to a pre-mixed instrumental? I’m looking to get that same sound during my mixes but even after volume reduction, delay and reverb, my vocals seem to still sit a bit too up front.

hey Lam, it's definitely a mixing technique. I'm not sure if they recorded to a premixed instrumental as I did not mix this song, only mastered it.

yes, the divine mastering chains presets are compatible with Logic Pro without Studio Rack by using the included channel strip settings.
