The Proverbs 31 woman was introduced to serve as inspiration for both men and women to strive for excellence in their lives and to live with a strong moral compass...the emphasis on her values (diligence, generosity, and love for her family) could be applied in other factors of life and not only as a married woman with children. She wasn't created to become the ultimate checklist for women to check off, but a description of a woman who embodies Godly wisdom and character.

I believe making sexual mistakes changes Gods path for our lives. He will always forgive us, but that doesn’t exclude the consequence’s for the mistake. That’s the part I fear most.

Facts.. I feel the Christian church has extended too much grace for this... she mentioned condemning.. who's condemning? I've seen pastors have wives and girlfriends.. let's not be deceived. The only ones being condemn today, are those preaching purity..
@iamsophiapeart4 ай бұрын
I agree that our mistakes and disobedience can take us off track and does have consequences. However, God’s grace is greater than the worst thing we have ever done. He is more than able to restore to us that which was lost due to our poor mistakes. We must be careful when we point fingers at Pastor's yes they do make mistakes and yes do have to face the consequences. They do have to face God and they do go through the dark night of the soul were they have to face themselves for who they truly are. And yes in those moments they do confess and repent of their sins. And God is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse from ALL unrighteousness and bring them back into right standing with Him. Whilst all that is happening we are sitting in the seats of condemnation wanting fire the strike them down. All I'm saying is God's grace is real and it is restorative. Let's try it sometime.

When Karri asked that question, “who made her (the Proverbs 31 woman) the model?”, it brought to mind of when Satan said to Eve, “Surely you will not die.”, in his attempt to challenge God’s word. Being a "Proverbs 31 Woman" isn't like gaining an EGOT. I think any woman- married or not, can represent that. The text is a testament to her nature, character, mentality & strength. It's who you are on the inside (first) that gives life to the outer world.
@brownsugar1300Ай бұрын
@@Nadadion80 I agree completely. I don't think proverbs 31 is stigmatizing single women without children. She describes multiple admirable qualities. It's not her being a wife that makes her great, it's a standard of how she handles marriage, children and multiple elements of life. This seems like she's slightly triggered by society putting down single women and projecting that onto the scripture. it doesn't mean the Bible is doing that.

I think we also have to remember that all scripture points to Christ and that the Proverbs 31 woman is not “just” a single individual but a representation of the church. Her price is far above rubies and the price paid for her was the blood of the lamb. We are as a collective all of these things through Him. We are wise, faithful, loving, industrious, of good reputation etc. I’ve never felt any pressure from the Proverbs 31 woman explained in the text because it is the work of God that beautifies us,the church, as a bride prepared for Christ, without spot or wrinkle or blemish.

When I first started reading the Bible and particularly Proverbs 31 which outlines the characteristics of a virtuous woman, Proverbs 31:26 and Proverbs 31:30 stand out to me as the pillars. Society places an enormous amount of pressure and emphasis on a woman’s beauty and her body but OFTEN her brains are overlooked or overshadowed. I ask myself this question often, “is my demeanor, appearance, speech, disposition, and character “ in alignment with Christ and if I answer no to ANY of those questions, I STILL have work to do. I also believe that a Proverbs 31 woman has a moral obligation to teach girls and young women how to be set apart because unfortunately we are living in a society that is cultivated to follow trends instead of following them and we need to model that our worth is NOT defined by our beauty, our bodies, or our appearance. I remember a pastor saying this, “if a man does not live God he can not love you.”
That SOS is so true and keeping busy! Trusting the Lord.

We don’t. I don’t get a pass. I still gave to wait. I love that you’re talking truth from our lense as a Godly woman, who has been married and single. Trusting God and waiting.

The section of proverbs 31 that talks about the woman is titled "A wife of noble character" Key word character. This section is to teach us characteristics we should exhibit not only as wives but as women of God (honoring God, loving and caring for her family, being generous ect..). Verse 29 says there are many virtuous and capable women in the world" it didn't say capable mothers or capable wives but capable women, meaning there are plenty of women like the p31 woman. and the text never said she was perfect. No being a wife or a mother does not exclude you from being a p31 woman, we have to be careful not to idolize biblical characters to the point of missing what God is using them to teach us.
