2:30 belt grinder, is same meaning as the belt sander I assume. He's against the use of the belt on the tip, or in general not a fan of the belt sander. I don't need these machines to adjust a damaged edge, or tip. Easier to mess up also than by hand sharpening. Low grit sandpaper or diamond/waterstones stones will take care of any damaged edge on a Mora. On machete's the file is often used, though I do think that the belt sanders etc. have their place there. Thinning of an axe bit is also nice to have an electric devise, as the belt grinder. Then again, the Vikings didn't use those electric tools, as any of the historical bladesmiths. A professional knifemaker/company, are ofcourse another matter. They have to produce in certain time schedules.

He is referring to the clients not to the other knife makers. some use mechanical/electric machines, grinders, sanders etc to sharpened their knife this is not only over kill but risk burning the still. For me many time i just touch up with the strop.

@@Oldmora Yeah somemone at Ka-bar(Tooj I think it was) said at Bladeforums that hand-sharpening is preferred, overheating happens quickly/easily with electrical devices. Ofcourse some know how to use these machines well , but why electric devices when you don't have to sharpen 10 or more , but just one or 2. Like you, I mostly need only to strop. And if more dull, 1000 grit sandpaper on a sandingblock with spring clips does it for me. "Easy does it" in this case. No need for complicated stuff.
