when it comes to mage, just straight sitting on blood burst/barrage will be bis untill shadow. you become an undying tank and your dps with blood barrage outclasses trident. sure it costs runes but money shouldnt be an issue and u save 90%

i'm going K before D to get the early quests like waterfall etc. Desert autocompletes them. Also getting the Warped Sceptre for an early game item into ancients will probably be worth aswell! After some MTA (with minimum 5x minigame points for me tbh) can easy just sit on ancients at that point with some decent gear like master wand.

you cant 2t wardens on insanity with autocast spells, you hard require 3 ticks to move -> target -> cast due to autocasts delay you need a trident unless you want to kill wardens literally 50% slower

Seems like you focus on early PvM, but I'd recommend waiting for those big item grinds until you reach at least 4x drop rate (maybe 3x if you're running out of easy tasks). So the focus in the early game should really be doing tasks. I think unlocking K first is the way to go. Not only it will have the most non-PvM tasks, but you can also do Fight Arena and Waterfall quest for that sweet xp since D would auto unlock them

I was a little silly (and didn't know what I was doing) so I chose Wilderness as my 2nd region 💀 I have Misthalin/Karamja, Wilderness, Desert I'm not sure what to go for with this. I didn't realize you needed range for GWD mostly lol. I'm not the most familiar with the game and have never touched this end game content before

What about Fremm? it has the ring and Saturated heart which is the same as Ancestral i believe. and you don't have to do 2 raids.

Frem is totally reasonable pick. WOuld have been my 4th setup if I had more time. I think most people will avoid frem just cause the content is a bit abnormal from the rest of the regions.

@@jamesn3122 ring alone is basically equivalent to ancestral in terms of oppurtunity cost since virtus robes are available. However, imo Arceuss spellbook is pretty important unless its superceded by relics. ( like if thralls are incompatible with the companion relic)

Augery only boosts accuracy, not damage. With the relic boosting accuracy so high, augery is not really useful imo

While its probably not great for most content, and certainly isnt a huge damage boost, any time you are doing magic damge to people resistant to it, this will be helpful.

@Chaney1man I actually ran the numbers. 30.686 with augury 30.493 with mystic might or w/e its called. That's a difference of 0.193 dps or 0.63% increase. That's 1 additional hit every 158 attacks. Continuously attacking every 2t, that's once every 3 minutes. Calculations made with the mage relic assuming absolute max mage with no gear restrictions vs Jad. So, even taken to the absolute extreme, augury does not do very much at all.

Another thing(s) to mention with kourend - Fire tome if obtained can skyrocket along with fire spells, it may be impossible to use weath runes without Fremmenik region but even then it can save an inventory slot of runes and not even mentioning it's cool pairing with smoke staff (if slayer is fast enough) - The production prodigy relic could likely work on the logs in wintertodt, making it easier for point collection

Tirannwn and Asgarnia feel like great third regions. The problem with most other regions is that they don't give a good range setup. If you don't take a region with a range upgrade, you are stuck with an rcb on high invo akkha/warden. Getting bofa setup or zcb means the leviathan grind can be done sooner. Kourend for tbow is a good choice if you have the time to farm 2 raids, but for those who dont, i feel like Tirannwn and Asgarnia are great choices

I feel seen! This is my route! I was super excited to try to do abnormal Corp to see if I can get an Arcane for the Ward. Also, for Construction, you are completely ignoring Mahogany Homes. Since it is effected by the mini-games point increase, you should practically never run out of supplies once you start. And it is available right from the start of Leagues in Misthalin. I also think that you should have mentioned the blood blitz spell. Casting it on 2 ticks with practically infinite runes should make you nearly immortal. Especially with how much you will be hitting.

@@KellenOReilly remember that kandarin has the mid game staffs, you cant barrage until later anyway because you need to level up your magic. plus kandarin has a lot more to do skilling wise which you probably want to get out of the way earlier too.

Was reading a lot of pros and cons about picking mage area unlock, but everyone just made it worse to choose. You actually made it clear for me... or not. Still can't decide between Zeah and Asgarnia. Planning to choose magic (i just really love magic), to be able to learn how to do ToA.

I plan on using this time to learn chambers. My basic goal is to do desert first. The kourend. And finally get asgarnia. Plan on going mage route because shadow op already. I'll take the loss without kandarin for more zontent

something to mention in Kandarin is the imbued heart drop from smoke devils is best rate, which is... well huge lol

superiors are 1/50 and drop rates are extremely boosted, imbued heart drop shouldnt be a problem regardless of chosen regions

I too was thinking that the slayer rush on zeah with burst/barrage would be very strong. However, the only bottle neck I can see is if too many people go this route, there won't be enough bursting spots in the catacombs which would really hinder those few or many players. Other than that, great video... Makes me really consider if ranged or mage is better in the end.

At toa the shadow is actually pretty decent at kephri so I’m guessing mage will slap there with mage relic.

Yeah i mean if you get a shadow early and just trying to get like full masori and all the items from TOA you should theoretically be chilling once you have the shadow and really only need to use melee for what, core and one phase of akha? Easy

I wanted to use leagues to try ToA and GWD so Desert and Asgarnia were a given. I def think I'm going mage with Kandarin as the 3rd region. I think my order is gonna be KDA so I can actually get the xp from waterfall quest and fight arena and skip a bunch of early melee training. My early game won't really involve combat so after my 60 tasks I go to Kandarin, I should get 60 attack and strength or damn near close to it and just go straight to a D Scim to start gathering the rest of the gear I'll need for my range and mage setups

Excellent guide! I might reconsider wilderness instead of Kourend now. Biggest downside for me is that the competition for revenants and especially bosses might be too much for my taste. Additional tip is that the Iban staff will be a fantastic mid game weapon since you get it very early and deals better dps than trident until you hit ~90+ magic, since it is a 2-tick weapon this league.

You can only get Iban's staff if you pick Tirannwyn, you can't get it with only Kandarin. The multi-combat bosses in Wildy can be killed in a team or mass, even by ironmen, so competition for Callisto/Vet'ion/Venenatis shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the guide. I've been going back and forth between Asgarnia and Fremmy as my last region but rounding out my other combat styles and having more end game is pushing my towards Asgarnia. Magus ring and saturated heart are really good, but there doesnt seem like theres a lot to do in fremmy in the late game

Yeah, Fremmy is a support region for sure. There to fill out some gear gaps but not really to camp longterm

You get to fully upgrade PoH which is useful for clue tasks. It completely depends on relics which are up to come and how point efficient you want to be. Obliviously it might be behind other regions, but timewise for efficient points. I think its pretty strong.

Kandarin is extremly important to completely maxing out mage, but I can't help but to think that I have to skip it, even though I'm going mage. The reason is that kandarin has pretty much nothing to offer to the other combat styles and I really think rounding out your gear is important. Zeah is almost unskippable purely because the amount of content it has for both pvm and skilling, so going desert-zeah-kandarin leaves your best melee setup as a whip, fighter torso and obsidian armor. Ranged isn't much better, until masori your best is black d'hide with a rune crossbow, and even after masori, you won't get a better weapon. I think taking asgarnia leaves all of your setups the most well rounded, although the only mage upgrade you get there are eternal boots

Tri-brid build is something I hadn't considered. Does anyone know how effective mage is going to be in COX? Can mage all but the head? I'm kinda bad and don't want to go for full dps mage build if i'm screwing myself by not being able to dps enough on the unpowered styles.

Technically, you can mage all of olm. I believe you only do 20% of your damage if attacking with the wrong style though. In general, bringing switches for olm is still probably ideal

Something I think you forgot to mention about Asgarnia is that in combination with the Desert the Whisperer is unlocked - a much faster way to get Virtus with the mage relic! I think that plus all of the GWD uniques makes it a better choice than Kourend.

Love the video, but I think Kandarin is more of a early game region, the only good thing it offers to late game is the jewellery and monkey madness cave for training. I will probably go with Desert -> Asgarnia -> Kourend Desert really good for early tasks and skilling + magic training Asgarnia for mid/late game gear for all combat styles, specially if you have friends to play with, Asgarnia has all combat styles for you guys to play together Kourend for slayer training later stages, Raids and filling any skilling you need like farming, firemaking etc That will probably be my route

I think for mage Im going Kandarin, Desert, Fremmy Desert is Self Explanatory Kandarin for like you stated the Zenytes and Occult Fremmy Gives the Magus ring, Ancient Sceptre, and Saturated heart which imo is a bigger boost to magic than anything else

Nitpicks: Unlocking desert before Kandy is a stupid idea. You'll be losing out on the massive, *massive* exp from waterfall, fight arena, temple of ikov, and garden of death (if going zeah) quests... and to a lesser extent, hazeel cult thieving exp. That's a ridiculous way to troll yourself. It's not like Kandarin is lacking for early game either. Also why does everyone keep sleeping on Fremmy as a mage region compared to Zeah? 2% magic damage from the duke ring is basically the same as the 3% that ancestral has over virtus. Literally negligible. And the visible magic levels that saturated heart has over the normal imbued heart overcompensates for it anyway. And, since when does slayer task give better drop rates from revs..? It's all about the skull.

Rev question. January 25th 2023. When on task, they are 5x as common. For the ordering standpoint, I understand wanting some free melee levels, but its negligible when xp rates are as high as they are. The suggestion is to get you towards end game content ASAP as that is where most points will come from and this order I feel does this the best. Frem is a great support region for all styles tbh.

Unfortunately magic is very weak in comparison to the other styles UNTIL you get the shadow or youre killing things specifically quite weak to magic. In additon casting barrages in many pvm scenarios will result in you actually being 3tick speed after moving around, unless you plan on manually casting your barrages every 2ticks. The 100% hitchance of icebarrage will also only work for freezable targets this league unfortunately. Just something people should keep in mind, its not gonna be all smooth sailing until you actually get that shadow. The imbued heart is also a massive dps upgrade so slaying until you get that is also vital.

Augury does almost nothing for your DPS with shadow. Fremmy is BiS dps because of Magus ring and Saturated Heart. Also get ancient icon on top for your barrages.

Don't forget in Mortania you can get full Ahrims with the amulet of the damned. the staff gives 5% magic damage and the set effect gives a 25% chance to increase damage by 30% and it can autocast ancients, so a 2 tick ice /blood barrage that hits around 44 (this beats trident by a mile). On top of all that you have TOB and Nightmare for Sang and Nightmare staff. Part of me wants to take kandarian but it lacks any good pvm content and you really only gain 15% magic dmg. I feel like Asgarnia just has so much more content and some amazing spec weapons and armor sets, it would be a shame to skip all that.

If you don't plan on going shadow, sure, but I assume most magers are gunning for shadow. That 15% becomes 45%. Which is MASSIVE.

I hate the idea of having to drop asgarnia or mortania for kandarian, they are both such amazing regions. its too bad we cant just pick 4.

Ahrims and other setups are gonna be PLENTY busted enough. I just kinda auto-assume most people going mage are gunning for shadow since its the big ticket item. Which makes Kandarin almost a necessity. But if you're not interested in raids 3 or shadow, then yeah your region choices are great

The JMods give a lot of extra info and hints in the official leagues discord - including this “flip” hint. Personally I think trading is the LAST thing they’re going to add; It defeats ALL the choices we make around regions, ruining the entire concept of Trailblazer
