Soooo… this was interesting however: it was pretty light on about how to setup suspension outside of using a data acquisition system. For someone who does it for a living he said very little and essentially ended with a “it’s just guessing” without using a date acquisition system. Also what’s the pricing on using a DAS for a day or half a day? Is it even accessible for the average rider?

To be fair, it is true that you don't really know unless you have DAQ on the bike. I think he provides some useful info on the sort of feelings that may indicate certain things need changing, but to truly get a full handle on it then you need to look at the data. I believe you're looking at £150-£300 for time with someone who knows how it all works. I'll let you decide if that's accessible for the average rider, but based on the price of an average bike it feels a pretty reasonable amount to make sure your purchase is working properly.
