I have a whiteboard to cover the things I need to replace when I get down to 3 items. I also found can racks on Amazon that hold 72 cans. You fill from the back and take from the front. Instant rotation. This works for busy people. I bought 2 for my pet food, I pressure can my people food. I built my closet with shelves it is the medical closet. This lifestyle allowed me to buy 2 tires, Christmas, and property taxes on social security as my only income. It frees up a lot of income. I wish I had this calendar when I started. There were lots of mistakes in the beginning, but I never gave up.

With your help I’ve been working on building my pantry since September. I’ve also been working on my emergency fund. With last week’s paycheque I hit my first goal of enough cash on hand to pay a full month’s worth of bills including my mortgage. Every time I bought something on sale I saved the difference in my emergency fund. That plus a “must save” each week made it possible. Thank you! ❤ You are such an inspiration to so many of us!

I have been working on organizing for 2 days now. My pantries (2 of them) and freezers (2) are overflowing from years of random preparedness. My goal for the next 6 weeks is to live out of the pantry and only purchase a very small group of items, ie dairy, bread, and pet food. During this time I will organize, create a formal inventory, and formulate a plan going forward for a better preparedness plan.

Anyone that’s going to buy seeds for this coming spring highly recommend Baker’s Creek seeds. They’ll send you a free catalog. You can also sometimes buy a large catalog at tractor supply their seeds are organic heirloom and they’re guaranteed for two years and if you have any problems with the seeds they will replace them no questions asked they also send free seeds to you of different things to try. Sometimes it’s an herb sometimes it’s flowers sometimes it’s another vegetable. Great company to work with highly recommend them.

I will be baking my own for about $1. Once the frozen bread dough is gone, I will be making it from scratch from ingredients in my pantry for 50 cents a loaf. One thing I have learned is to vacuum seal or freeze based on the size of your family. I always vacuum seal 2 pint jars of dry foods like rice, beans, or pasta then seal rest in larger jars. I do this because a pint is 1 or 2 receipe worth that I keep in the kitchen and the rest in my storage room. I also freeze chicken breasts singly. There are 2 in my family and this is what works for me. Thank you for your helpful information.

I have started adding one extra of any canned foods I buy. I don;t buy a lot but heck, I can take one for the team. I am also freezing my loaves of bread and using proper containers to store the unfrozen to keep it good for longer. and I cleared out most of my approaching end date frozen veggies to the dehydrator and fruit into smoothie base cubes or jams.

Thx for DL :) My aim for 2025 is to have a PURPOSEFUL SPEND year. This is the conclusion I came to after thinking about the whole idea of “no spend”, which is not reasonable and usually does not mean that you don’t spend. I need to accomplish some bigger things in ‘25. Plan to eat as exclusively as possible from my pantry for a while. This will help me save for bigger projects and see how close my estimates of “months of food” are. Will inventory between now and 12/31, recording in my spreadsheet so I can know exactly what I use.

I bit the bullet this year and turned my spare bedroom into a pantry room. Best decision ever! Now everything is in one place (instead of scattered in spots all around the house) and so much more user friendly. Even my son is now more likely to go in and grab things for him to eat or see something on the shelf and say...hey, can we have this for dinner soon. I've always been one to have a stocked pantry. It's definitely has morphed over the years and I'm much more intentional in my stocking. Organization is definitely the key. In the begnning, I replaced each item plus one. I never thought I'd fill a pantry room. Now I mostly relace one to one. As I go, I have added more variety, and fill the new slots plus one. My pantry is more like my grandmother's than most. I call it my Free Food Diet from garden and woods. I do not hunt or fish, but my neighbors trade livestock for vegetables. I buy things that increase my self-sufficiency. This week I ordered Chicory seeds. I see chicory growing wild here, never where I can pick even 3 seeds. Chicory is the biggest source of inulin, a main prebiotic for gut health. Beetroot is good too, but I dislike the stains. I ordered beet powder, end run. I like the flavor of beets, but the mess... beets are a major food source in Russia, obviously they are not sqieamish.

I actually learned pressure canning from you and a few other people on YT . I've done the ugly chicken and many of your other recipes and I'm looking forward to what you come up with this year! One of the things I found was very helpful is writing down ideas of different meals you can throw together using shelf, stable foods, and thinking about what methods you have or need to get to prepare them! We have about 3 months of food between me and my husband and I continue to add to that when my budget allows. I'm doing the best I can to be prepared, and your help has been invaluable! Since it's three pages per month, have considered adding a blank page for notes after each month so we can print a month two-sided and have a blank page for notes. That blank page could be the start of space for other notes that we want to apply that month by adding blank sheets of paper (copy or ruled), a sheet or two of document protectors of items to consider at the end of the month, etc. It would make customizing easier, since we're printing it ourselves. I'm planning to print the month pages individually to hopefully get a blank back page (I have to print the cover page separately), then I'll be ready to rip!

Many Americans, myself included, weren't blessed with the knowledge of pantry preparedness. Thank you so much for educating us! I feel much more secure being able to plan for my future, as well as my my present.

Thank you so much Leisa, I just downloaded and printed the calendar, I am looking through it now. I have prepared and had a well stocked pantry for years, however, you can always learn something new. Thank you again and happy New Years to you and Phil.

I think the only way someone would fail is by stocking items you’ll never use, foods you don’t like just for the sake of filling it up. We’ve had a lot of those surprises financially, no fun, but we’ll eat.

I’m really excited for this guide! I’ve enjoyed all that I’ve learned over the past several years and this sounds like it’ll help me fine tune. Our library has free printing so guess where I’m heading 😊
