🇦🇺 Hands down the BEST and most comprehensive peperomia information I've seen Drea! Well organised too which is not easy. I'm so glad you talked about their need for calcium, I've rarely seen or heard it mentioned. One thing i will say about the Watermelon peps is that they are fanatical re watering, too much, leaves split, to late leaves split. 🤦🏻 Have a great week, looking forward to your next segment

I have a Watermelon Peperomia and it quickly deteriorated just weeks after I got it. A few weeks later I noticed one at a festival and it was gorgeous. Now I'm obsessed with getting it to look better. It's been in my south facing window for a week now and is already looking better. And thanks to this video, I bought calcium and repotted it. It's standing even more upright. Thank you!

This video came right on time! I found two very impressive-looking, large-leafed peperomias at my local grocery store of all places (watermelon and silver frost, two plants I lost to pest treatment late last year). I had to hold off on buying them because it was way below freezing that day, but I was planning on going back for them and giving them another try! Now I have your helpful guide to refer to ☺

I am still not perfect with my green bean peperomia (semi-succulent type) and have rotted a few high voltage (in a terrarium, so go figure). But my peperomia red edge, obtusifolia, stilt, beetle, and glabella are thriving! Even have a prop of string of turtles in with my moss propogations, but was not sure how to care for them after I take them out of that false humid environment. So perfect timing! P.S. Didn't realize how many I actually had until this video 😂.

I'm in Australia 🇦🇺. I don't have the watermelon yet but it sounds like I should! I have 6 relatively healthy ones and 3 on my verandah that are probably done. Hanging on for months. I did everything wrong when I got my first few. Repotted them water etc. Then I started watching KZbin plant videos instead of presuming I would know what I was doing. This was about 18months ago. My sad root rotton one's the 3 on the verandah are all caperatas . A red , a emerald and a pink lady. The survivors are my Jelly have had major pest issues with this one but has finally just put out a new leaf. My moonlight caperata beautiful no problems. She is my favourite. A jade A caperata Piccolo A raindrop And a Rosso. Definitely a challenging species! I now use African violet soil instead of making my own. Much easier!

@@AlohaPlantLife Very helpful! I do have one question, please? Where would Peperomia Trinervis fit into the plants you showcased today? I'm thinking it's more in line with Caperata's. Would you agree? On another note - as far as the calcium goes, Dolomite Lime is a good source of slow release calcium. I read several articles from sources I trust that said to just add a teaspoon or two, depending on the size of the pot. It's also good for, I believe, 3 months. After that, sprinkle a teaspoon on the soil surface and work it in with a mini rake, fork, or chopstick.

My experience with obtusifolia and clusifolia are there are super hardy, you can abuse them like Scindapsus or something, they aren't picky about being dried out at all, kind of like a Scindapsus pictus, a plant you that will take some effort to kill.

She looks pretty much ok. 😁 The newest one i have is peperomia happy bean. She looks good aswell. I have them near one another so they share their own humidity. 😊 When i water them i make sure to check the soil. If it's mostly wet, i wait for 2 to 3 days. If the upper layer of soil is dry and below is lightly damp, i water them. 😊 Sometimes i mist them. I didn't see any sign that they hate misting. I hope they will thrive for a very long time. 😊

Here's my question this week!! Can you use hydroponic fertilizer on soil substrate plants?? It would be nice if I didn't have to buy 2 different types of fertilizer!
@AlohaPlantLife
@AlohaPlantLife 5 ай бұрын
That’s a tricky question to answer. I mean basically yes, but the problem is in hydroponics you’re using a more concentrated dose because there’s nothing already available for the plant to draw nutrients from. In potted plants though there’s already nutrients in the soil so you would have to really figure out the right amount to dilute the hydroponic fertilizer in order to make sure you weren’t over feeding a potted plant if that makes sense.

My experience is short. I purchased my obtusifolia last spring. It was doing fine then started losing leaves. . Also had some black stems on bottom leaves, stem rot. I now let it dry out completely then wait 2 or 3 more days to water. I do check the bendability of the leaves. I also started bottom watering because of the black stems. I've had no more lost leaves and am getting new leaves popping out. I am not a fan of bottom watering as I am never sure how long to let it sit in the water so I may go back to top watering.

A few days after I saw this I was at Trader Joe's and disappointed that they didn't have anything that interested me until I looked down at the succulents. There, in the front, I recognized from your video a peperomia graveolons for $2.99. I grabbed it. No hole in the little pot. How to I control the water?

Repot into a pot with drainage and use the pot it came in as a decorative cover pot (assuming it’s a nice pretty pot)💚

I would love to know which category Peperomia Pepperspot would fall into? I just bought a very small one, and it keeps dropping leaves.

Care for that one is gonna be pretty similar to the string of turtles although I believe the leaves are a bit thinner, so probably can’t let it dry out quite as much as you would a string of turtles

@@AlohaPlantLife I found out why it wasn’t thriving: the Thrips I was talking about in the comments to your Syngonium video....they came from the Peperomia 😔

My peperomia hope new leaves are coming in small. What am I doing wrong?
@AlohaPlantLife

Are they staying small? It’s not abnormal for new leaves on vining peperomia to come in small and then overtime gradually get larger.

I snipped the vines. I hope they grow back. Thanks for getting back to me.

Hey, could you help me with my peperomia albovittata 'Hairy'? I have it for 3 months now, but this week he is feeling itself much worse, he dropped like 8-10 leaves. He is kept in pon, I see a lot of growing points, but they keep getting brown, and die off. I checked the roots, they seem ok, the leaves just fall off from like the middle of the stem. they just get dark at one point of the stem, and basically the leaf dies. I have a heatwave currently, my room temp goes up to 32°C. They are kept in a bright spot, with mostly undirect light. I will try getting them into cacti/succulent soil, since you recommended it in the video( it has thicker leaves, and hairy stems), but for now I put it in water, I had no better idea. @alohaplantlife
