fun fact, due to the way reflects are coded, a reflected direct hit rocket does not inherit the splash radius penalty built into the weapon, so a reflected DH rocket has the same splash radius as stock, making aiming your reflect near the feet a viable strategy.
@NareasPL Жыл бұрын
What about damage and speed? Does that also reverts to a stock rocket?
@Eye_Of_Odin978 Жыл бұрын
@@NareasPLNo, it retains it's normal speed + dmg stats. It has something to do with how reflecting with airblast interacts with rockets in the code, returning all rockets from the DH to their stock explosion radius. It's a bunch of complicated source-spaghetti, thats all I know.
@theclown2257 Жыл бұрын
Kinda a unrelated but, i love pfp
@OmegaRC59 Жыл бұрын
It's a weapon ownership issue. Rockets don't have any data on how big their splash should be, it just looks it up from the weapon that fired it. When reflecting it, it gets set to your flamethrower. Similar issues affect pipe self-damage (turns very high because the flamethrower has a very high damage stat, despite not being used for its flame damage calculations), and cow mangler fire damage takes the degreaser's penalty

Reflecting is not about sight. It's about syncronizing the enemy's reaction to your reaction. You need to feel the Soldier's brain pressing the trigger. You also need to feel him NOT pressing the trigger to try to confuse you. 4:04 is super true. Direct Hit is by far the easiest one to reflect and hit. Because with the other rockets, you have to take distance into consideration, DH is mostly just about reaction time.

I do know the benefits of the degreaser, but I just prefer stock tbh. I love the classic look of the stock flamethrower over the degreaser, despite not relying on after burn the 3 extra tick damage still a nice benefit to have, and honestly I’m just too used to stock switch speed where it’s easier for me to hit flare punches with stock compared to the degreaser lol. But regardless of that your well formatted guide had given me some much needed insight that will help me out, so I’m quite thankful for this remake. Glad to see ya finally uploading again!

Another really good tip that I don’t think you mentioned is that when fighting demomen, try getting them into a pattern. What I like to do is that I dodge the first pipe, then they usually fire the second one immediately after and you can use instinct to reflect the second pipe. I’ve recently started using this and it works so well against all types of demomen. Still without the part I mentioned, I did learn some good stuff from you 😊! Thank you! ❤

I feel like the important thing about learning reflect jumps is that good sollies will decide not to shoot directly at you but to the side of you so that it's harder to reflect into them. So you reflect jump into their face and force them into that fight.

A good method I want to share when it comes to reflecting rockets, is to wait until you see the orange/yellow blaze trail the rocket makes. As Sir Andrew Prescott said on the battle of bunker hill: “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes”. But in terms of tf2 it’s “Don’t air blast until you see the orange of their rockets”

oh btw, you mentioned using q for switching between weapons, and after trying to use 3 weapons with such strategy it's quite hard, so I've decided to change the control scheme shift - primary space - secondary w - melee q - 4th slot esdf - movement [instead of wasd] caps - crouch mouse4 / mouse5 - jump 2 3 4 5 - engi buildings [binds] and you know, it took like 1 week to relearn, maybe less than a week to completely relearn but after that I could always easely switch between any amount of weapons without ever awkwardly switching to the wrong thing [that happens a lot with q] people should probably try this more, it won't take away the muscle memory, but you will gain a lot of advantages.

It's very hard I personally find it tough to play pyro above around 130 ping Tips: predict reflects, don't react (you'll miss because of the ping), play more at medium range, use shotgun secondary so you have a hitscan weapon (less affected by ping)

I feel like there's very few single events in TF2 that provide more dopamine than getting a good reflect, especially if it's a crit you're sending back. Maybe getting a big multi-kill with a single crit explosive feels better but it's debatable :P Awesome video, I wanna add that a great way to practice and still have fun while doing it is playing dodgeball. For those unfamiliar, there's either two teams or a free for all of pyros that take turns reflecting a heat-seeking rocket that gradually increases in speed until it hits someone, knocking them out until the next round. It can be difficult for a noob to get into these days since most people playing it have been doing so for years and start on the highest speed, but once you get the hang of it it directly correlates to your ability to reflect in the normal game and leads to pretty immediate level ups.

I have a lot of respect for Pyro players that can reflect. I really tried to learn and get good at it, but it just never clicked for me, I think the biggest issue is that I can't really get a grip of the hitbox I'm dealing with and trying to do that and aim at the same time is really hard. The few times I did get a kill with it, felt amazing. I hope Valve encourage the reflect play style with Pyro more as I think it dispels a lot of bad stereotypes that comes with Pyro.

I found playing dodgeball helped me with airblasting. Especially when there's people on the other team who love to send direct rockets at me. It helps with learning speed and distance combinations. Plus it's fun and very satisfying when you miss the first reflect of a very fast rocket and have to frantically orb it and reflect it back to the enemy that didn't expect you to handle it.

I think many of us have developed a sort of 6th sense. This 6th sense is the sense of "when is he gonna shoot" which allows us to just reflect a rocket with ease, and sometimes not even SEE the rocket, before the soldier combusts into little gibs
@capitanclassic86242 ай бұрын
As a pyro, you're not gonna go on crazy wm1 streaks. Wm1 requires good positioning while the enemy is low or preoccupied, and best in tight spaces. Instead, count your assists as well as a pyro, since your only big burst of kill dmg is combos and reflects. Being a good pyro requires you to pressure the enemy, and protect your team, not just, your kill death ratio. (Unless your playing with a combat weapon like the dragon)
