I honestly don't get why people have trouble with nightmare pain vs Paidra, because nightmare pain literally says "Your opponent takes any battle damage that you would have taken from battles involving your Yubel monsters" while a card like Yubel just says "Inflict damage." as it's effect damage and not battle damage. So you do take the damage from Yubel's effect.

No you don’t. Please look into advanced rulings

@@wnaxdemon9257 No you literally do take the damage from Yubel's effect if you attack it with Paidra and there is literally no reason why you wouldn't because Yubel it's effect is effect damage.

… none stop from card effects .. and nightmare pain is effect damage .. paidra stops battle damage .. so you take the damage of pain not the yubel ….. I’ve never heard of categories .. I’ve heard of sub steps in damage stop which max is sub step 6 .. ie the last step . Which is the honest vs honest

Tenpai Dragon Paidra vs Nightmare Pain = Neither player will take any battle damage in this battle. If multiple effects change how you conduct damage calculation, apply them in the following order: 01: Inflicts double damage 02: Battle damage is taken by both players. 03: Battle damage you take is also inflicted to your opponent / your opponent takes any battle damage you would take instead. 04: Battle damage is treated as effect damage. 05: The player gains life points instead of taking battle damage. 06: Battle damage becomes 0. 07: Battle damage is halved. 08: Battle damage is doubled. 09: Battle damage becomes X (X being a predetermined value.) 10: You do not take battle damage if it is more or less than X. The "..Your opponent takes any battle damage you would have taken from battles involving your "Yubel" monsters.." text of Nightmare Pain corresponds to "03" in the list and their fore it attempts to apply first, The '..You take no battle damage from battles involving your FIRE Dragon monsters.." corresponds to "06" and would attempt to apply after Nightmare Pain and as we know in Yugioh, the last effect or condition resolves.

@@salvandfamily I do believe I got a ruling that the battle damage is applied as effect damage due to pain .. so you don’t take the initial battle damages but I can get behind the reason why you would take no damage .. but this talk of categories is bs

Nightmare pain is effect damage, not battle damage. You won't take damage from the yubel, but you will from pain.
