I am drawing the rectangle, converting it a path, selecting edit paths by nodes tool, selecting both top and bottom nodes, holding down shift and left-clicking the upper node and drag... Only one moves not both at the same time.

@@DeZignSapien I replayed your video frame by frame almost compared to what I was doing. Noticed I was 'pulling' down on the node and not the upper arrow. Then it worked. It is possibly more easy for you to have your icons in a dark mode, but it's difficult for the average user, like me, to get a feel for exactly what your doing.

Hi DeZign Sapien, This video was very useful to me. I wanted an easy method to apply the perspective effect on words in my language Kannada and this video gave me the easiest way to do it. Thank you very very much. The effect looked very beautiful when applied to some words in my language. the only small trouble I had with my version of inkscape was that I was not able to do what you did at 3:30. I wasn't able to slide down the two nodes at the same time to create that shape. I had to select the nodes separately and then drag it down. :(

Glad you like it :) You need to select two nodes and press n hold Shift key and then drag with the handle, that should do it. If you can't see the transformation handles after selecting the nodes then you might want to enable "Show transformation handles for selected nodes" from the node contextual menu :)

Won't work for me. I've watched this video a dozen times, I have copied it step by step, click for click, in painful detail and it still won't split apart my text as shown at 0:46. I give up it would help if you would speak and explain rather than assume we can all read and watch your mouse simultaneously

Then you have to flip between trying what you are showing and the actual program Once I get my steps written out if you like, I can send them to you....It was a good video and explanation

Here's something to consider. The video's title indicates that this is a tutorial on how to use perspective effect in inkscape. Your video is 5 mins and 38 seconds long. More than half way in (3 mins 20 sec) and you still haven't even started with the perspective tool. This is an absolute waste of the viewers time.

Hi Ben, Sorry for wasting your time. In order for the perspective to look effective there are few key points you should keep in mind and that is exactly what I explained in the video.
