I love your tuts, but I need to ask you a favor. I'm a total beginner. I have Inkscape 1.2. When You make a tutorial, please specify if it's for 1.2 or 1.3, that way, I'll know if I can follow it or not. Thank you!
@nikkilesley2525 Жыл бұрын
I can see uses for both ways. I do think the first way was easier though. The second way I can see how you can manipulate the smaller parts though. And actually I bet if you break down the lettering parts in the first way, you can still manipulate the shading and gradients. It's great to have multiple ways to do one thing though! 👍
@IronEchoDesign Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I wanted to include the first way because I like the spontaneity that working quickly gives us.

If I learn Inkscape will I be able to transfer some of the skills if I ever need to use Illustrator?
@IronEchoDesign11 ай бұрын
A lot of the techniques are the same. The tools are similar too. As much as I love Inkscape and have committed to it, Illustrator is still the industry standard and has many powerful features not yet in Inkscape.

Motion is still there. Extensions- Generate from Path- Motion. Interpolate is now listed as Interpolate Between Paths. Same place Extensions- Generate From Path- Interpolate Between Paths. Hope this helps!

Outdated. Not working for me. object to path just turns the text into nodes and I cannot ungroup. I get the message "No groups to ungroup in the selection"

I have been watching your videos on inkscape. I just started using a cutting machine that usses svg files. I want to be able to cut out the word GRANNY in 3D but spray the top layer of the letter with grandchildren names. I am finding it frustrating.
@IronEchoDesign Жыл бұрын
Inkscape is tricky a lot of the time. Its even more difficult when exporting a file to use with a cutting machine. If you want to spray the grandchildren names, I did recently make this video that shows how to spray specific text: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKGTlmp_f9FnkNE.

Yes, there are a few different options. Fill and Stroke menu can directly make outlines and under the Filters top menu you can find the first dropdown choice is Bevels with some interesting variations there.

Question regarding an older video of yours. I am running and learning inkscape 1.2. Using your video, I am working with trace bitmap function. With a photo of only 2.0mb, Inkscape keeps giving me a "not responding" in top title bar. Thoughts on a fix or troubleshoot???
@IronEchoDesign Жыл бұрын
Been there. Filming a new video at lunch and the Trace Bitmap feature keeps timing out on me too. In the new 1.2 version the Optimize slider seems to really jam things up. Just my first guess. Try taking it down to zero. Only other sure fire way to fix is to make source image even smaller.
@CartoonCapeTown Жыл бұрын
@@IronEchoDesign Thank you. Strangely, just waiting ended up fixing it. Just not used to seeing "not responding" as a way for my processor to think.

@@IronEchoDesign Thanks. I was thing more screen printing. Color seps?
@IronEchoDesign2 жыл бұрын
Oh, I see. When I design for apparel I do stay away from gradients. Everyone says the print will fail, especially for DTG. I have experimented and had gradient designs printed in real life and they come out okay actually. Still, if the industry standard is not to do it, I'd be careful experimenting on a client's project.
@kopenwheelrc4149 Жыл бұрын
@@IronEchoDesign Makes sense. Thank you very much. Maybe lowering the resolution would help from colors bleeding. I generally print solid colors with traps for when they touch. Just learning this tool. Your channel is fantastic!
