Great advice Jasmin!!!! Physicist here to support: Any contact point below center ball introduces rotation resulting from a component of the stroke "impact vector" that is NOT perpendicular to (directed straight into) the ball surface at point of contact. This component imparts torque (rotational force) that causes the spin. For any constant point below (or above for that matter) center ball, the amount of spin will be proportional to the applied impact force. The harder you hit the ball, the more spin is created in addition to translation speed. There is NO WAY AROUND THIS FACT. This is one reason why using the same below center contact point and changing your stroke force can be problematic. Whereas, training your brain and muscle memory with a variety of below center contact points allowing you to keep the stroke force to its literal "minimum required" will always keep your stroke well under control and dead aim! I could do entire lectures on this subject but it involves vector physics/mathematics and would lose a lot of people from boredom and/or other reasons. Suffice it to say that Jasmin has given excellent advice here and I can confirm it all with the physics behind it. Now get out there and practice folks! The GAME awaits you!!! Oh yeah and as always, Jasmin ROCKS!

Dang I really appreciate the slow views and the failed speed shots. So often there are pros acting out amateur performance and exaggerated, but doing a hard shot and adding speed really shows what me (an amateur) actually does. THAT really was helpful to see

Great video! It's about time someone explain that. Your next video really should be on the stun. That way beginners can really learn both shots. Absolutely love your content
@udtojanpestillos20946 ай бұрын
In my opinion the stun shot is even more important. Because mostly you are in situations where you just need to move little bit forward, backward or side, but not too much. And too judge the angle and speed control correctly, it is insanely difficult for me. Mostly its too much or too less speed.

As a newer player and one that gravitates towards the lower half of the cue ball but has yet to figure out the consistency needed, this is easily one of the best videos I’ve seen yet for playing the lower half and more particularly, the explanations couldn’t be more clear. Love sharivari and fx billiards channels, this will easily be another go to!

I think this is kind of a difference between the modern game with fast, high quality cloth vs the old slow cloth and big pockets back in the day. I feel like almost every shot I do is a bit of a “dink” shot, but timed so that there is just the right amount of stun mixed with follow or draw… lot of killing the ball too.

I mostly play in philippines and this technique works great. I mostly aim lower than i should, so i can stroke with less power. But the problem is, when i go back to europe, i play on fast, high quality cloth's which turns out that if i aim the same way i do in philippines, the result is a draw shot instead of a stop shot. So i change my stroke because i hate rolling balls in, it makes my shot less accurate. So i start aiming higher with a little bit more speed.
@chrisvand26786 ай бұрын
That makes sense. The Philippines vs European conditions comes down to the humidity in the air, and it can really screw ones game up if the table plays "wet". Good luck with your game.

I think the reason you may hear people saying “stun” for a “stop” shot is because the jargon of Snooker is a stop shot is called a stun, and a stun shot is called a “stun run through” I believe the confusion originates from people who play snooker playing pool and so they use the terms for pool what they use in snooker. For example, I don’t say “bank shot” I call that a “double” I also call a combo a “plant” shot. I Never use the term “draw” either- usually say backspin (sometimes screw) or “deep screw” for a draw shot that travels back very far.
@PoolProblems6 ай бұрын
Stun = cue ball slides when it hits the object ball. A stop shot is a straight stun shot. I don't think that's confusing at all.

So then what is the difference between your stop shot and a drag shot?
@super_d4d7416 ай бұрын
In a drag shot, the cue ball loses the back spin way before hitting the object ball, causing it to roll forward slowly and then hit the object ball.
@tavinc6 ай бұрын
Is this a direct answer to my comment a few videos ago asking why players seem to aim low on their shots regardless of the shot type?
@steve_weinrich6 ай бұрын
There are a number of players (SVB is one) who always aim low and then raise the tip on the final stroke.
@onnyt606 ай бұрын
It’s easier to find the center line of the ball if you start out aiming low on the cue ball. In that way you also eliminate any unwanted side spin.

Sounds easy, but many pool players do not hit "the intended spot" on the cue ball due to many reasons (stroke, vision etc.). That is why going pro is a "pain and lonely" journey.
@TheREVIEWGUY1-ip1wm6 ай бұрын

@06Insight6 ай бұрын
I am still not 100% sure what you are advocating; a consistent cue position while varying stroke intensity. Or, a consistent stroke intensity while varying cue position. In both cases, according to distance. Players often say to hit "on speed." This implies that varying cue tip position according to distance would be optimal. I suppose that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I shall collect some statistical data.

You can’t play a dead stop by hitting middle ball …. It’s not possible . When you address what you think is middle the bottom half of your top is actually catching the cue ball a touch below centre . If you actually hit pure middle the cue ball will move forward , guaranteed

🤔 ❤A man suspected his wife of cheating while he was at work. He told his best friend about it. He says I could place a hidden camera in the bedroom, but I don't want to spend that much money... His friend says there's an easy and cheap way to be sure: attach a spoon under your mattress, and place a bowl filled with milk under it. That way, if your wife goes to bed with someone, the mattress will sink and the spoon will touch the milk. All you have to do when you get home is to check if milk is on the spoon or not. The man agrees to do so and goes home. 2 days later, they meet again.**- So, did you do it?**- Yeah, I did everything you told me: I put the spoon, the bowl, the milk, etc. And I checked yesterday evening.**- What happened? - The bowl was full of butter.
