It will say "start" no matter what after a couple of minutes. Put it into compass mode and keep it still for a while. It will still say start.

Thanks - the Suunto directions and videos are not clear on how this is done. Your video answered my questions

Calibrate it again my friend.

@TerraRangerGold Doesn't work. Did this at least ten times and still showing 20deg short, just like before I "calibrated" it.

@@terrencemccargish442I'm betting you don't have the "declination" correct. Look it up for where you live. This should fix it. It should be a number of degrees West or East.
@terrencemccargish4422 ай бұрын
@@HunterAtheist I did have the declination set up. It just would not calibrate for the longest time. It finally calibrated when I was way out in the wilderness. I am guessing maybe there was too much magnetic interference around me when I was trying to cal it before even though I don't live anywhere near a city or big buildings that would cause a deviation. I actually had to completely reset the watch first, then it calibrated ok out in the woods. Either way, this procedure in the video does not work in this instance. I calibrate instruments for a living, so tech manuals and cal procedures don't scare me much.

PAY ATTENTION! These instructions are the ones to follow when calibrating the Core's compass; do not follow the instructions included in the box from Suunto, as they are rather confusing; I followed Suunto's instructions and I tried for 3 days unsuccessfully to calibrate it; I tried this way Terra Ranger explains and it calibrated within seconds!

Do a factory reset and calibrate that way. It worked for when when the way shown in this video did not.
@terrencemccargish4429 ай бұрын
Yeeaaahhhh, that did absolutely nothing. Still 20deg off on mine.
@TerraRangerGold9 ай бұрын
Might need to do it a couple of times outside, worked for mine when I had it.
@terrencemccargish4429 ай бұрын
@@TerraRangerGold I've done it like 10 times. I know it's not your fault, but this watch will not show true north. My only other option is to add the 20deg to the declination. My Casio pathfinder can be manually set and calibrated. You'd think Suunto would have this feature for how much it costs. Not impressed so far. Maybe if I do the factory reset and set it up again it will fix it.....not impressed.
@terrencemccargish4429 ай бұрын
@TerraRangerGold I fixed it. I had to factory reset the watch and go back to the initial compass calibration. It did cal up this time within a degree of my Silva. So to those who can't get this way to work, factory reset and calibrate again.
