Interesting how the key on the picture has the american bow, and there is a normal M1 in the package

I bought a “9/10 security” master lock from a hardware store close out sale. It’s the 930, which other than having crazy spring tension is one of my easiest locks to pick. I think if somebody tried to saw the shackle, the vibrations would probably just open the lock for them.

I've been master locked on several occasions, all without pumice. I've been picking for 3yrs. Now and masterlock never fails to disappoint. Good video thank you.

Thanks for the comment James, it's a shame because I have a few masterlocks that I would easily recommend for securing ones valuables. Then we find out the packaging doesn't match the drapes if you know what I mean... How can anyone afford to trust the word of Masterlock based off face value now? I can't

The bitting was pretty flat on that key! Probably could have use a city rake (or butter knife lol) to open it.

It could be the lock is camouflaged for the purpose that they won’t see it for the easy open.

Yup...I was looking for the key when you removed the packaging and saw it was a crappy four-pin Master.

Glad someone noticed it, B/c frankly It didn't draw my attention until I was inside of the lock I knew something was off.

Well that was a surprise. I know that it was Master lock that took over American and they are slowly phasing out the American lock key bow and replacing all American Keys with Master lock keys. I have been misled by a LockOut TagOut Master Lock "slider Lock" Padlock that turned out to be a wafer lock. Looks like your lock is a hybrid lock made from spare parts of American and Master lock. Those Wendt cards look pretty cool. Enjoy the rest of your week, cheers

Look at that bitting tho. At least that looks appropriately masterlock challenging. I'm surprised they bothered with the security pins with all the other shortcuts. Kind of a cool lock if you put a new core in it.
@penfold78004 жыл бұрын
I've also noticed they hide the keys behind the lock body in Thier packaging nowadays, so you can't choose one with good bitting, and you can't see how many cuts are actually on the key. At least it's a solid metal body though, unlike some junk I've seen out there.

Ah man 🤦🏼♂️ the just love putting their sub par locks in American lock bodies. They even “borrowed” the back of the package lock picture from American lock. Great video mate👍😊🇦🇺

The "TEJz" looks like the American Lock date code pattern. It would decode to July 2005 with "z" being the assembler. The letters don't fit the Master Lock date codes which don't include a "T"

Although it would not surprise me if masterlock lied, in this case I think it was someone else that ripped you off. It seems to me that someone switched the locks in the packaging. That's a very nice little pickset and case.
@SilktheAbsent14 жыл бұрын
Master took over American in 2003, so that's why that looks like it has the American body and shackle, it does. They probably just used stock 1200 series parts (by the look of it) and put a 4 pin American core with a Master keyway in it, and called it a day. What makes this one rather unique in my opinion is that it is labeled Master, but has so many security pins. Aside from the Pro Series and the LOTO locks (which are really just plastic bodied Pro Series, with different keyways), Master doesn't really use a lot of security pins, and NO security key pins. That's on the American Lock side of the company only.

Something is fishy with that core,maybe it was switched unless you got it new. Surprisingly the core wasn't crimped. Nice job on the pick and gut though, have a great Thanksgiving and stay well. 🦃🙂🔓

It shouldn't take away from the conductibility of the lock and I imagine it wont for various reasons, the problem is the blatant misrepresentation of security features.

That is an American Lock series 10. I have several that aren't camo. That should have had a riveted trap door retainer, not a screw. The black color of the trap door is for rivets. I think all series 10's come with rivets, but I'm not 100% sure. I think the seller pulled a core swap on you, but wouldn't swear to it. Master owns American. It appears to me it's just been branded Master instead of American. I have an American series 1205 that is camo and it has a green trap door and green security nut for the screw. The 1205 seems to be identical to the 10 except for the rivet. Hope this helps. If you're interested I would be happy to send you a few Americans to compare. You could keep them with no strings.
@LegalLockPicker4 жыл бұрын
That's entirely up to you. Appreciate the comment. As you can probably tell this is very disturbing and has drawn comment from the Masterlock company which I will get into a later date. This was in fact purchased brand new so core swapping seems a little to devious even for this.
