YES...PLEASE PAINT IT!!! Just incredible work. I watched all of the daily workshop videos and this was a chore. One word of warning. I was watching a video put out by The Tank Museum in England and they restored a T-57 with the exact same steering and gear box and a very minor problem with the steering linkage caused the bare metal clutch plates to become so overheated they melted together during Tankfest 2019. It made me think of all the sanding and polishing of dozens of those metal clutch plates you did and how it all might be wasted by one little slip up in fine tuning the linkage. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!

Het is precies andersom, rechte vertanding is sterker, maar maakt meer lawaai, schuine vertanding is stil ,,maar minder sterk...
@sasjadevries
@sasjadevries 5 жыл бұрын
Nope.

Technically, on a tooth versus tooth comparison, a helical gear can carry a larger load seeing as it is diagonally positioned on the gear (assuming tooth size is equivalent). This means that it distributes the forces being applied on it much more efficiently compared to a weaker, vertical tooth.
@ken3234
@ken3234 4 жыл бұрын
I believe the tank used a straight cut gear for the torque it needs because of how massive and heavy it is.
@tolga1cool
@tolga1cool 5 жыл бұрын
Actually straight cut gears are stronger then slanted ones Edit: They aren't really. See explanation below
@madkills10
@madkills10 5 жыл бұрын
Hmm iv always pondered this myself but i dont think they are. how are straight cut stronger when they have less surface area bearing the same amount of force? I thought the main reason they are used in racing is for "un-syncronized" gear boxs so they can slam it into gear
@tolga1cool
@tolga1cool 5 жыл бұрын
@@madkills10 Alright. I had to look it up in my old Uni documents because tbh I wasn't sure anymore. So the reason to use helical gears is a smoother engagement of the tooth and thus smoother and more silent operation. For a given size a helical gear actually is marginally stronger then a straight cut one (my bad). On the downside though helical gears produce (depending on the angle) quite a bit of axial thrust, which for high torque applications means significantly more load on bearings, shafts and gearbox shell. This is the main reason you use straight cut gears in racing. Also the efficiency of straight cut gears is marginally greater (because of reduced losses in the bearings mostly). Also they are more expensive to manufacture then straight cut
@tolga1cool
@tolga1cool 5 жыл бұрын
@@madkills10 So if you look at it from a racecar perspective the takeaway is that it's easier to just manufacture slightly larger gears instead of making a beefier gearbox shell and using stronger bearings. For road cars or anything else where noise and smooth operation is a concern you use helical gears

tolga1cool with straight gears you only have radial forces. With slanted gears you have radial and axial forces. That sad, in my opinion is straight gears stronger....

@@aluminium3574 There isn't much opinion in the matter tbh. Helical (slanted) gears are stronger for a given size because there are more teeth meshing at a single time. With straight cut gears you essentially jump from 2 teeth meshing to 3 and back to 2 again. You don't have that with helical gears. It's more uniform. Hence why it's a tad stronger

I wonder why this repair is done? Disassembly is not complete. If for myself, then it is not entirely clear to me only a partial replacement of bearings. If you have already opened the housing, then all bearings are subject to replacement, without exception, regardless of their condition. You do not know the operating time of old bearings. Replacing the bearings after assembling the entire tank will be very problematic. The same applies to engine repair - this is the most technologically difficult part. Why did you decide that the condition of the crankshaft journals and frame bearings is good? They did not disassemble. If you do this repair for the subsequent sale of the tank, then everything is clear to me.
