A huge, full bodied and technically amazing performance...by BOTH Mr Volodos and the orchestra..conducted by one of the most savvy Rachmaninoff conductors, Maestry Chailly...who was on the podium for the most exciting young Argerich performance of the 4rd Concerto. Count on Proms to bring us historic performances. Along with th Tube video of Kissin's No2, this is a first choice. Fot me, it's often about the collaboration between pianist/Conductor. In this case, it's all one could ever ask. There are a whole slew of super worthy KZbin videos of this Concerto. We are blessed.

I was lucky enough to see him live im 2018, in a concert that only costed... 17 euros! I knew that he was going to play there because of a small announcement in the information panel in the place of the performance. Not soon after Lang Lang did a concert on the same place and it was on all the news (also, it costed around 150 euros lol). I would prefer Volodos any day. So maybe it is true that he isn't making much publicity of himself lately... But I can tell you that he is still probably the best living pianist today. His Scriabin was so superb that when he played Vers la Flamme I could feel the temperature of the concert hall rise... Best performance I've experienced.

I`m breathless after listening to this incredibly moving and powerful performance . Arcadi Volodos is such a gifted pianist, its a pity more of him is not heard via radio or live TV performances. My one ambition is to go to all performances in London for the "Last Night of The Proms:. Only the Brits could pull off such a musical extravaganza.

I’ve been following Volodos for many many years. Yes, I respect Schubert of Brendel, Richter, and few other pianists, but Volodos is something else. He proved his immense power of musicality just from his Schubert and Schumann, hence his Rachmaninoff is, without a doubt, the most, THE MOST, solid, reasonable, precise, yet free, interpretation out of all other pianists.

This is the greatest performance of Rachmaninoffs Concerto #2 I have ever heard in over half a century! But it is really painful to watch knowing Volodos will probably never record it commercially and instead opt for some late Scriabin that even the composer himself couldnt stand, or an hour long piece by Schumann that Schumann wished he had never written.A genius going to waste.
