The first time I saw a video of the artist Svay Teng Denis, I was 15 years old, now I am 25 years old, I continue to paint and draw and these videos continue to motivate me, hopefully one day I can go to France and meet this artist, be his student. Greetings from Machala-Ecuador

I think the artist will be delighted that his work inspires young artists. Teng is a very kind and generous man and I am sure he would be very happy to see you at Montmartre someday.But he is older than he looks so I am not sure if he has the time to teach.Good luck with your art work!

Davy, just wanted to say your voice-over description of Svay's creation of this superb portrait is first rate! The video couldn't have been more professionally created with wonderful comments of Svay's use of color, technique, and style! The background music was so soothing and supportive, and the candid shots of the onlookers were icing on the cake! Bravo Davy! 😊

Thank you for the positive comments.This video wasn't planned. It was shot without a tripod,so camera shake is an issue.Also the auto focus struggles when the zoom is pushed to the limit. Apart from that I'm happy with the video!

Hi Davy , Svay Teng Denis is indeed a very tough act to follow but his art forms are beautiful. His pallete is the best. He is a great inspiration for me i am just 13 year old and i learnt his method of his style, it took me about 2 days to learn. You are doing a great work and help for young artist as they can see and learn. Thankyou so much Davy . please upload more videos on art of Svay Teng Denis

@DavyLimvideos2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert,Svay has become a legend at Montmartre. Unfortunately, he did not renew his authorization for 2022, but no one who saw the little master at work will ever forget him. Agnes and I still draw at the place du Tertre, and it would be great to see you there one of these days!

Hi, thank you so much for uploading this! It's great to know Mr. Denis still creating his amazing art at the Place du Tertre :) I was wondering if you know what kind of paper he uses for his pastel work?
@DavyLimvideos3 жыл бұрын
In this particular portrait he is using a very light blue grey paper and I am pretty sure it is Canson. He also uses light cream coloured papers.I haven't seen him yet this year,but I will get back to you on this.Maybe a future video about artist's favorite materials would be useful for everyone.

Do you happen to know the brand of pastel sticks he's using? Or a brand or brands you'd recommend?
@DavyLimvideos2 жыл бұрын
Just about every brand is used here. Certain colours can only be found with certain brands. Only by experimenting can you establish a palette of colours that is suitable to you. All the brands you find in art stores can be recommended.If you are using sticks buy individually rather than box sets.Buy individual pencils rather than box sets. You will generally use more white pencils than others.Carb Othello make a nice all-purpose flesh colour pencil:1400/680

Davy, I've been searching for an answer here. How does an international traveler get their portrait home without smearing? Will the artist spray with fixative before you leave? Also, may I recommend you create a simple website for the Place Du Tertre where you share these videos and provide information about the true artists in the square like yourself and Teng? Show us a few examples of your work, your current fee, what days you work. You could also create a page expressing the challenge you've been having with the restaurants and the city's plans to reorganize the square? You may get contributions to the legal effort. If you do create such a website you should go back to all your other videos and edit the description to include the web address. A central resource by the artists themselves to communicate with future customers like myself.
@DavyLimvideos2 жыл бұрын
Very few artists are using fixative because it tends to darken pastel drawings, especially colour work. I think your suggestions concerning a website are very interesting. In fact, I have had something like this in mind, and I think it could benefit both artists and potential visitors or clients. But it has been tried before (without success) by entrepreneurs. I created my personal website using Wix, but I am not a webmaster, and putting a website like this together takes time. Thank you for your suggestions. I think it is definitely something for the future, and should be organized by all the artists at the Place du Tertre, and should have video contributions/photos from everyone.

Tiene buena técnica pero no sé está respetando las dimensiones del rostro inicial ni las proporciones standar , más q un retrato parace una caricatura mucho se está exagerando en los rasgos
