It’s not that complicated, it’s the same as anything else, just actively change your mental focus on to something else… your mind can only focus on one thing at a time… eventually you just re pattern your thoughts… once you get skilled you can actually use naturally occurring thoughts as a trigger to think about something more beneficial, which is essentially how hypnotism works.

I can believe this as I recently had a dream about an aunt I haven't seen for years, and I mean yearssss, and she recently appeared in my dream apologising for how she left and how she had let me down when I needed her the most.
