The issue of "masturbation" is not stopped Whether there is a fatwa here or there, or whether some scholars, past or present, have given permission for it, the Muslim is concerned with what is good for him and benefits him, not with what his soul demands and desires. Whether we look at the differences in the opinions of the jurists or not, what benefits you in your religion and your worldly life, your heart and your body, is avoiding this bad habit:
1. Because of the excessive exhaustion it causes in your body.
2. Because of the images of what is forbidden and the call to sin it engraves in your soul and imagination.
3. Because of the fire of desire it ignites and the demand for more of it instead of extinguishing and quenching it. This is known and established by doctors, that masturbation does not extinguish desire except temporarily, but it quickly flares up again, more obscene than it was.
4. Because it opens doors for you to sin by looking at forbidden things, violating the sanctity of the virtuous days and nights, failing to perform the prayers on time, feeling internally deficient, and psychological withdrawal.
5. Because it causes harm to the marital relationship in the coming days, when some find it difficult to get rid of it even after marriage. And other bad effects.
Therefore, Ibn al-Arabi al-Maliki quoted some scholars as saying: “If evidence was established for its permissibility, a man of honor would turn away from it because of its baseness.” End quote from “Ahkam al-Qur’an” (3/315). Sheikh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “As for the physical deterrent, he should ask the doctors, until it becomes clear to him that it is one of the most harmful things to the body, even if a person finds comfort in it, but it is a slight comfort followed by great harm. Some people told me that they were afflicted with this, and were afflicted with satanic whispers - Allah forbid - and psychological distress. This is not far-fetched, because Allah, the Most High, is wise, and He has made this sperm have a specific place: {Your women are as a tilth unto you, so go to your tilth however you will} [al-Baqarah 2:223]. A person should be patient, and patient, and patient. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) mentioned a successful remedy, which is fasting, and he said: {O young men! Whoever among you can afford to get married, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding one’s chastity. Whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it will be a restraint for him.} End quote from al-Liqa’ al-Shahri (61/ 24, with automatic numbering of the comprehensive).
What you mentioned in your question of trying to show the statement of Mujahid as if it were a consensus of the Companions and Followers is an unsatisfactory exaggeration.
The prohibition of masturbation has been proven from the great Companion Abdullah bin Omar, who is more knowledgeable and of a higher status than Mujahid. He was asked about shaking - meaning masturbation - and he said: (That is the one who does it himself). Narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in “Al-Musannaf” (3/112), and this is a very strong word of blame and repulsion.
Ibn al-Arabi al-Maliki stressed in Ahkam al-Qur’an (3/315) the prohibition, to the point that he said: “The majority of scholars are of the opinion that it is prohibited, and it is the truth that Allah should not be judged except by it. Some scholars said: It is like the one who does it himself, and it is a sin that the devil created and spread among the people until it became a saying, and I wish it had not been said, and if there were evidence for its permissibility, then a man of honor would turn away from it because of its baseness... Masturbation is weak in evidence, and it is shameful for a lowly man, so how about an adult man?” End quote. Rather, some scholars said: The reports that are well-known from Jabir ibn Zayd, Amr ibn Dinar, and Mujahid, they did not mean absolute permissibility, even though the apparent meaning of their wording suggests that, but rather they intended the permissibility of this a
