This band is criminally unknown! They have been around since 1999 and remained fairly unknown. They got more notice with the goth rock and "scene" fad kicked in but for the most part they are a best kept secret to most people. Theyve had a few members but the main backbone is singer Chibi and guitarists Rainbow and Falcore, who have been around since the beginning. The latter 2 do all the programming and synth stuff for the keyboards to use aswell

They’re such a great band!! Such a shame though because they could’ve been one of the biggest band if it wasn’t for this style of music. But the problem with it is the fact that many people are so blind when it comes to this genre. Sadly i was one of those blind people until i discovered them last year accidentally on my recommendation feed

An excerpt from an interview on the song name/meaning: It's about misdirected attention and credit. It's about building off the work of those who came before and claiming it all as one's own. The lyrics were initially inspired by the phrase 'standing on the shoulders of giants'. When I was in elementary school, if a student followed all the rules, did what they were told, or got a perfect score on a test, they were rewarded with a red star, which would be placed beside their name on a list of all the students in the class.

I discovered this band a couple of years ago thanks to some random dark-synthwave mix here on YT, and I immediately had to check the rest of their work. I was simply amazed to find out that they had been around already for about two decades, and I fell in love with their music instantly. They just create a special melancholic atmosphere, I don't know how to properly put that into words.

I like that you mentioned Orgy - one of the bands that The Birthday Massacre mentions as an influence is Julien-K, who are made up of some of the former members of Orgy. The Birthday Massacre and Julien-K have actually toured together as well :)

Love BIrthday Massacre, they have done the only version of The Neverending Story that's worth listening to. Her voice just elevates the song to something incredible.

Believe it or not Red Stars was one of the first songs i heard by The Birthday Massacre and it was around the time i used early Myspace and been on Vampirefreaks back in 07' or 08' somewhere around there. Glad you like TBM they're awesome! :) They make me feel like a teenager again same with HIM/Ville Valo

One of their best songs! Finally someone reacted! Yall gave it a collective 8.5! In my opinion one of the best bands to exemplify the early 90's sound who aren't actually early 90's....

Between Type O Negative, and The Birthday Massacre, they are my two favorite bands. They both are similar, and different at the same time, but what they both have in common is the ability for their music to draw me in, and feel what they're feeling while they play.

If you think you this song is fun wait till you see it live! Their energy is dialed up to 11 whenever they play this song, it's so good. Their live shows are generally very fun and enthusiastic. And yes, some of their music has a very stranger things kind sound. Especially the song forever, one of their most beautiful songs (which came about 2 years before the series, in case you wonder). Can't wait for more!
