Love the videos and your drive Matt, As a panel beater of 20 years, I’d say filling the joint between the kit and panel will 100% crack in no time. I’d recommend I perfect bead of sealer ( for flex). Also I’d never fill over paint, remove the paint of the whole area plus a few inch around, feather out the layer of lacquer paint ect. This will prevent sinkage and make for an all round better repair. Hope this helps, wishing you Hannah and Kevin all the best.
@davidmcloone12522 жыл бұрын
Would agree, defo use sealer. Masking tape a nice line about 5-10mm wide round all the gaps. Then a nice clean bead round to seal and allow flex. There’s plenty KZbin videos on guys doing this.😉 look up Akira nakai san. The king of Porsche body kits and master of sealer.

Matt , what you need is knifing stopper to use after he filler and the light scratches . You just smooth it on and it doesn't need a hardener. You'll find it makes you finish far better and a lot easier and it's not expensive

Matt - would be good to cover that putting a Cat S or N on the road again takes a bit more than just an MOT test - for example - Insurance can be difficult, much more costly and the Cat status will always stay on the car at DVLA meaning that selling it, becomes very difficult. Great video btw - good progress being made - well done mate.
@Carl-vq6ww2 жыл бұрын
Had a few cat n, no trouble at all selling and no extra on insurance at all and repaired better than standard with top spraying. Only bodywork on cat n… cat s like these are the 1z that are crabbing down the road.
@shona55122 жыл бұрын
Nearly every car Matt has had in the last 2 years has categorised crash damage, I'm sure he knows what it takes to get it certified road worthy again.
@Carl-vq6ww2 жыл бұрын
@@yellacat 😂 whatever, as I’ve pointed out, only problems with cat s. No problem with somebody pranging the bodywork. So why will u struggle with insurance, does that mean it’s more likely to be in another accident with another owner because the car has had damaged bodywork in the past lol? Or selling, I’ve had a Honda known for shite spraying and thin bodywork repaired better than standard as any good garage could. Stay away from cat s but cat n is ok if repaired properly.
@yellacat2 жыл бұрын
@@Carl-vq6ww Do you work in Insurance? I do. Getting Insurance on a Cat N even after it has been put back on the road (N is 'Non Structural), will still not be to the appetite of many insurance companies. Fact. All I said is it was worth mentioning, so take your trolling elsewhere.
@Carl-vq6ww2 жыл бұрын
@@yellacat If u worked in insurance u would know I’m telling the truth, u do not work in insurance. What do u think I do, I am just an insurance guy, nothing more, cat s is bad, cat n is not a problem, although I will add it does change from company to company, so maybe I was harsh with my wording 👍

The front shield behind the brakes should not have fouled the discs at all, as all non-BS 63’s had the same 360mm disc with the same thickness. The floating 360mm came from the pre-2010 performance pack cars, then after that was revised for a cheaper composite disc, but the pre-2010 can be retrofitted to all of them, even the late 507. The BS discs are the same thickness but 390mm and can be direct fit with a larger carrier. So anyway, somehow the backing plates for the discs have become misshapen somehow, of what they attach to is bent. You’ve done it now though, so leave it 😂. FYI if you wanted to upsize the rear disc to 360mm (from 330mm) you’ll need W212 calipers as the carrier is integral.
