If you are buying or looking to buy an Audi TT i will show you the most common problems and what to look out for before you part with your money.
On a whole they are pretty reliable and the problems are fairly petty and cheap to repair, but as with all cars there is common problems...

The buzzing speaker is only a coding issue. You just need to recode the amplifier. Remove the left and right rear trim by removing the bolt holding the cargo hook. You wil see a large wire going to the hole at the side body panel. There should a rubber grommet protecting the wire rubbing against the sharp body edges. If still in place try squeezing it.

Plus: (i) Window regulators on earlier cars (2010 and prior) are prone to fail and are expensive to fix. (ii) Lack of tyre pressure gauge leads to ruining some very pricey run flat tyres. (iii) Glove box hinge fails, taking the interior light with it.

I had the issue with the amp. Took it out and i could see all the corrosion. Sent mine off for a refurb and it's all good now 👍🏼

Someone probably already beat me to the answer, but the little thing is called a camfallower. At least that’s what it’s called in my MkV Gti that also has a 2.0 fsi. I went to the garden centre a month ago......nothing wrong with it on the way there.....coming back out the car park, went to put the drivers window down.....grind, knacker, crunch.......then of course it stuck all the way down and wouldnt budge lol. Good old Audi Rustington let me take it in the same day and leave it there overnight so it could be fixed. Cost me £400 for a replacement regulator. Then the bonnet release busted a couple of days later......£59. I do love the car though......its gun metal grey with red leather interior.

2011 211bhp 2.0l manual. I've had, the water in the battery comp, worn earth and worn driver seat. Fixed all and fitted android stereo. Other common problem is window not sealing when door closes resulting in wind noise at speed. Fix with a long 5mm Allan key adjustment accessed at bottom of door. Work out which of the 2 adjusters and which direction to turn - sorted for ZERO pence...

My a3 8p which this TT is based on was the most quiet hatch I have ever been in... But I did change from 225/45 17s down to 205/55 16s purely for the comfort on motorway and Broads... Audi is class leader in noise canceling but big wheels and exhaust are to blame for sure.. Looks great sounds great but if you do 2hrs daily drive it will make you tired much faster...

Stage 1 on my 2013 TT convertible 1.8L stock. 160 > 210 hp 250 > 340nm Less turbo lag with better throttle response. Rev limiter removed, real careful at 6500 rpm. Less approx .5L per 100k fuel atm. Fully stoked with gain vs expenditure. More clipz of TT please Phil.

In terms of common problem no.5, I suggest you check the break light under the rear wing properly sealed. There are many TT drivers here who have the same problem and I found that all of them had disassembled that part once or twice before. It can be fixed.

Common on mine: 1) suspection coil springs tend to snap 2) leaks where door windows meet the roof.

Hi mate, really enjoy these videos as somebody tempted to get a TT. I have many questions, but one to start off: if you had to pick between a Daytona Grey 2.0 Black Edition (DIESEL) kitted out with the spoiler, black alloys, wing mirrors or relatively stock Daytona Grey 1.8 S-Line (PETROL), which would you choose? The Black Edition is around £2000 more. Would love to hear what you think. My own research says that the diesel 2.0 would be 10 more bhp and 100 more Nm of torque, but I'm not sure as I've heard bad things about Diesel cars.

Hi matt, great tt channel ive had a few common issues you missed mate, the dreaded window regulator /cable - Heater blower motor burnout - blower control actuator starts clicking behind the dash - glove compartment hinge /dampner snapping - ignition switch /stereo/ door lock and anti jack work intermitently I've also had both rear lights go both window regulators ...cleaned oil pan and replaced oil breather + gauze to the later bigger one ,just about to put the rs grill/rear bumper + 2014 tts front bumper and skirts on it also miltek non res exhaust and bilstein b12 pro kit already running 19 veemann directionals 2008 2.0tfsi

The noise is from the side windows they didnt insulate under the rubber seals....pull back the seals and you silicone caulk....goodbye noise!!! Cheers

Hey Matt, '09 TT Roadster, entire drivers door is in-operable, door closed but computer is showing that it is still open, none of the buttons are working, gas, trunk, window buttons. Where is the "door closed" sensor?

Great video! I have a 2016 TT.... love it!!! Sounds like they fixed the shelf clip issue by making it a sliding shelf. I think they fixed the key boot issue cuz I almost did that once but trunk wouldn’t latch when my key was in it . Ironically it still let me lock myself out when I left the key in the cup holder 🥴. Windows freeze shut in the winters here which may be a VW issue as was the case with My Beetle 🙄

Matt need your help ...can i ask you a question? P0299 code on my car...low boasts. Have a new tubro, diverter valve, recirculation valve, boost sensor, maf, new vacuum lines......when its warm out, get a engine light....cold out it stays off..p0299 code??? Any guesses????

Cool paint job! I have a TTS, never had water problems in the rear hatch area. I do know when there is water build up on the rear windshield opening it up can get you splashed as the water comes down.

Here’s what you missed. Radiator fan issues. (Staying on well after car is off. Not turning off etc). Bluetooth mic nw or not working well (can’t hear people)! Leaks in the windshiel resevoirb A few of these are new to me. I’ve already broken the bonnet handle 3x. And the lights not grounding is a huge pain in the ass (figure an engineer would jump in the aftermarket. Nope). Still love the car. Pain in the ass tho

Would be nice to insulate the noise out. Cute car but fwd and 'fake' awd with haldex clutch kicking in, would like that to be like the A6...or rear based. Shame this isn't changing with new releases, could have been a proper sporty competition to BMW and Mercedes - considering it is a hatchy coupé (could fit a Siberian husky in it and have seen parents with 2 baby seats in it as well) and cabrio option too. Had the 3.2 automatic, talking about that but also the diesel is awd and 2.0 petrol got the quattro after 2010.

I had a 2006 thst used oil. Audi ran a test andni was ounces from their limit thst would have replaced the motor. Had to get rid of the car. It seems there was a known oil consumption problem in the A4 Audi took care of, but not the TT..

I’ve got a problem that you haven’t covered, I think. When the engine is running, I get a warning light ( a light bulb picture ) on the information screen saying that I have a problem with the DRL/sidelight, Right side. Both of these seem to be working correctly but I can’t find the cause. Can you help please.

Good video mate, will explain why my speakers crackle, might check it out for dampness. Have you had any rattling from your rear wheels? I noticed a stone got stuck behind the disc brake fender, the an audi specialist garage couldn't find anything in there but since hear an awful sound like loose metal hitting something when my offside rear wheel goes over a bump.

Hope you manage to sort your problem with the interference through your stereo, if not, you have a bad earth on the car and definitely check the amp itself as it could well be the source

Has two TTs - MK1 and MK3 - Both have had the same issue.... Fuel cap not opening. A nightmare when you pull in to fill up and can’t get it open, so have you drive off in shame ☹️

For the noobs at the beginning. Make sure you open ur tank cover before leaving the car, kind awekward if you wanna get gas and its closed😂 you should get the new head/taillights, it took my 2006 TT like to 2015 😁

@@mpskiii I currently have a tts, owned it for 4 years. I have had this problem yes. Believe me its very easy fix too. If you do it yourself you can find the part on ebay used around £40 to £60. If you get a garage to do it will mostlikely be less than an hour job but they will charge you an hour labour. Including the part probably around £120 to £160. You can mostlikely do this yourself. I'm no mechanic and managed it with few halforda tool haha

Problem 1: Unable to open the passenger door from the outside after unlocking with the key fob or key. Already set to 'unlock all' in the DIS. Have to open from the inside. Problem 2: Coolant warnings and overheating when stuck in traffic, stopping/starting often or stationary for long periods (coolant level was fine). Even happened after Audi flushed and replaced with fresh coolant.

Anonymous apparently you need to press the door open button twice on your key, this opens the passenger door, an anti hi jack feature !

im from slovenia but bought my tt from germany :) had it for almost a year, so far without any problems. Depending on your driving you will average 8,5 liters per 100 km, also some models burn a lot of oil so theres that. People also say, the electronics go bad in a tt rather quickly. other than that, it's an awesome sports car so I think you should go for it, good luck :)

Hi i have a audi tts 2008, when i drive the car it has been randomly making a loud noise from under the bonnet to which i pull over turn ignition off and the noise will still continue for around 10 seconds loud and then come to a hualt. I then start it and it drives ok then randomly again it wil happen. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance
