The problem with the rear door to quarter is that you can't take a door from one car and guarantee it will fit another. I work for JLR. The tooling wears so the nut plate in the door and the hinge position are constantly adjusted to ensure the gaps and flush are correct. To correct the rear door to quarter gap. Slightly loosen the bottom door to hinge bolts. The bottom of the door will move inwards and correct the bottom of the door being over flush to the quarter. You will have to do this several times until you get it in the correct position. Use the paint marks beneath the bolts as a guide. Loosen the bolts, let the door drop inwards and then push the door out with your knee as you tighten the bolts up in the required position. Then do the same to the front door to match the rear door. You will then need to take the bottom of the fender inboard to match up with the front door. Regarding the style lines. Instead of moving the hinges move the door striker to line up the style lines on the door. On the tailgate. It needs raising up on both hinges. That will correct the style line issues.

Mat, I work for Land Rover myself there have already been comments about the dimple being for keyless entry but you also need to check the inside of the door matches up when it comes to wiring, motors and components that you fit back in as these can be different depending on the spec and options the car had for example the ones you took off will have wiring and mounts for meridian sound system. Also some parts from the same age and spec can be different if they have different vin ranges bit of a minefield

Difference between the 2 handles is passiv entry with the one with Chrome surrounding and a dimple. Unlocks when you put your hand in between handle and door.
@tonywalters53962 жыл бұрын
The tailgate hinges also crack and split so double check them as that is why the tailgate drops. You adjust but after a few cycles, it drops again. The door handles are both keyless entry, just different models. The modules in each door are coded and share some parts of the wiring in the loom hence you need the right module and loom. Hope that helps.

Glass roofs/pano roofs and sunroofs too, all have quite a lot of weight to them. The weight in this rod will be fairly significant. If this slid down a verge sideways and was then stopped abruptly as reached the bottom/side, then the momentum and sudden stop may have shifted the top half of the car to one side slightly. Just a thought. I remember reading somewhere that a pano roof on a mini added 80kg to the roof. They massively raise a vehicle’s roll centre.

Something to watch out for if you decide to replace panels yourself, the car is full of self pierce rivets (just under 4000) because it’s around 95% aluminium construction, there are a few spot welds like the ones you pointed out but there are some SPR under the arch that you showed. Spot welds are usually in pairs and flush both sides whereas SPR have a button protruding on the underside. You can find an example of SPR if you look under the the gasket for the door aperture. You can get a handheld SPR gun but access will probably be an issue on an assembled car. Love your stuff keep up the good work👍

The way the rear door lines up makes me think the quarter panel is slightly pushed in. No worries though! A good bodyshop would be able to pull it out with their frame machine. To me it doesn’t seem like the quarter needs to be replaced. Pull it put and use some filler. You don’t just want to fill all of the gap with filler though as it would probably crack later on. You want to keep your filler as thin as possible.
