Matawaia was the first Marae I ever went to. I lived in Maromaku and spent quite a lot of time in Matawaia with a friend from there. This brought back a lot of good memories and made the hair on my arms stand up. Love it

It brings tears to my eyes listening to this song so much memories as a child. My name is Rahiri Cooper my grandad name is Tehira Pani Cooper and my nana is Stella Dawn Cooper (blondy) known by many kaumatua and whaea. The day Tehira died was a massive heart aech for me as i didnt find out untill the day before he was buried i wasnt able to make it to matawaia until 1:30 pm the next day as i am living in hamilton. The part that hurt me the most was that i wasbt able to make it.
