When I first start talking to a guy, if he persists on telling me that he isn't a cheater and that he always does everything for the girls he dates, but is always the one to get hurt, then I will walk away. When a guy comes off insecure or victimized, I can't help but know that he is a mental case and that is why he is single. I will instantly turn away from any guys who is classless, disrespectful, and vulgar. That is a huge turn off. Guys who objectify women and are constantly looking at other women and talking about how hot they are, disgusts me greatly. “Giving him the opportunity to invest.” YES! I finally caught on to that in my current relationship (going on a year) and the reward for us as women is incredible. While the waiting may seem hard for the moment, your mind is so much more reassured when you let him take initiative and then you get to reward him with your response. There will come a time where you can give more, but still give him space to pursue. It’s the best and the sweetest that way :) Let him pursue in his way. I pull away when the man slacks. I've been in a relationship where he started off strong (he was active, respectful, fun, and he was proactive in life). Then as soon as he feels comfortable and earns that label, all of the things that drew me to him, fall by the wayside. He became inconsiderate/disrespectful, lazy and slobbish, didn't have fun anymore and sucked the joy out of life with constant negativity, and finally he became stagnant in life. I was in that relationship for years, even sticking by his side for a year while he was being ugly. I gave him the chance, until his negative attitude was transferring onto me. I guess, when a guy wants to pull away, then it simply means that he doesn't want to go any further because he actually didn't fall in love. However, if the two had a great fun together, why not continue as friends? Friendship is much underrated. I hope to start out as friends with my future partner. There's no pressure on doing lovers' stuff since there's no relationship goal. However, if a guy is afraid of commitment or he doesn't want to put a label, he certainly qualifies for eternal friend zone.

I would say six months is a good time. What’s more important is establishing an emotional connection and or making sure you have some of the same qualities. It’s not really the label that matters but if he sees you as possibly the one. What is too early? I’m not asking for labels but I’d like reassurance: 1. You discuss intentions in the beginning on first date or second. 2. This was so on point for me. I recently started a relationship with a WONDERFUL man (about 6 weeks ago). Based on what he has told me about his past relationships (major ones) they were verbally and physicaly abusive towards him. So, I thought if I showed him my true self (totally opposite of his past women) that would be the way to go. Well, I think as you said to much to fast. I recently started dating again and have been doing the online thing. I was talking to this one guy for about a week, we were texting and talking on the phone. He seemed like a nice guy and all, but then if I didn't message him for a couple of hours he would be texting me "Are you ok?", "I miss you", "Do you miss me" etc. I hadn't even met the guy yet, needless to say it completely pushed me away and I stopped talking to him.

I don’t know how to advise you to handle your guy .. I am 70 a widow and I’m seeing a man who is a few years older and a widower. My husband died in 2011, his wife died in 2019.. we have a terrific time with each other just talking at over some coffee or having a meal he finally kissed me on my cheek .. he is ready to go out but so far, I do the suggesting … so .. I told him to give me a call when he is ready to get together again … so I’m not calling and being the date fixer … it feels like the right thing to do .. any thoughts ?

Hopefully others will give their thoughts, but I've found having interests and joining groups, clubs, a church, etc., is the best way to meet someone who shares at least some of your interests. That's how I met my wonderful man! Best wishes!

Being too familiar/intimate too soon. Such as using “pet names” within the first few days we are talking. Saying good morning and goodnight before we’ve even met. Complimenting my appearance in a first message. I know you think I look good or you wouldn’t have matched and spoken to me. Being sexual or trying to talk about sex too quickly. I remember I was talking to a guy and within a few messages, he was asking me if I was in bed and what I was wearing to bed. To me, one of the biggest turn-offs is a man bragging about his possessions and/or financials. I recently went out with an old friend (also divorced) who turned every conversation topic into a way to present something valuable he possessed (10 cars, boats, homes, property, etc.) It just shut down the enjoyment of the evening for me completely.
