This video will show you how to set up a simple maggot/caster rig for match fishing using the Preston Chianti 4x10 float. This rig is shotted using a strung out style pattern. It is best suited for fishing through the water when loose feeding. You will be trying to catch the fish as the bait falls through the water column. It's most effective fishing through depths of 2-4ft. The slim sensitive bristle make it perfect for fishing on those cold winter days, when targeting silverfish such as roach and ide. This is only a rough guide! So make sure you get out on the bank and see what Floats, Shots, and patterns work best for you.

How do you know what size silicone to use for different floats please?

I don't believe there's a written rule on the exact sizes to use, But generally the finer the float stem the smaller the silicone diameter you can use. As long as your silicone holds the float firmly on the mainline without it moving to easily you should have no problems whilst fishing. Hope this helps 🤞
