She's plenty touchy with him, too, and even held up a card that said "I've got a crush on" with an arrow pointing at Richard at the beginning of the first episode of this week. Ultimately it's harmless and sweet. They appreciate each others' intelligence, lightning-fast wit and humor and have a bond. If there's chemistry between them (which can happen even if one person is happily married), it went no further than very public displays of innocent affection. They hold hands in episodes earlier (and later) in the series. Maybe they were work spouses who cuddled occasionally on national TV. Maybe Richard had a legit crush on Betty (although she's the one who held up a card for all to see) and poor impulse control, but I've been watching and he never does anything to repulse her. Who knows what each of them got out of it-I think he was lonely and she enjoyed the attention, and they were both warm people (when he wasn't in a dark mood). Which is not to discount their genuine friendship and mutual respect at that time.

Kind of a good week with Loretta winning giving away 5,500 in a head to head and audience matches. Richard gave away 1,100 dollars in a head to head and audience match with 9 matches. Nipsey gave away 1,000 dollars in audience match matches with 11 matches. Betty gave away a 100 dollars in audience match match.

Charles is starting to come into his own. Nice to hear the rest of the panellists give Brett some groaning, en masse; we like Brett, yet she can get quite grating at times in these early days what with her excessive insecurity-masking, needling others and demanding of attention. Loved it, in a years-later episode, when Ethel Merman told Brett to shut up.

There are two things that are beginning to annoy me. It's not people, but words. "Tinkle." I realize that you can't say "take a pee," but tinkle just sounds ridiculous. "Toidy." Can't they just say toilet. I think third graders say toidy. On the flip side, I prefer "bazooms" to boobs. Bazooms has a little pazzaz in it.
