In addition to appearing on a few episodes of Match Game 73, Bert Convy also appeared on an episode in 1974 to promote the TV game show Tattletales (which aired directly after Match Game on most CBS stations). Convy was also supposed to host the 1990 reboot of Match Game that aired on ABC, but was diagnosed with cancer shortly after taping the pilot and was replaced by Ross Shafer. Convy died less than a year later, on July 22, 1991.

I know how BRETT got her job. Somebody was asking about this one of us commentators, she got her job because Jack Klugman was on match game, He was also shooting Quincy, and there was another show. He was shooting at the same time also trying to make it to match game for his seat. So he spoke to Johnny and Ira and also Gene, And asked them, if BRETT can go on the show because he’s just too tied up. And he wanted her to get out of the house also because he said all she does is sit around home and drink. She got her seat on MG.

@Nelson Robert Willis Sorry - I took my reply down because half the time someone misinterprets what I said and gives me lip. It probably wouldn't have happened in this case but ... You should see the African Queen. It was made long before I was born, but it is a true classic. I don't even like Katherine Hepburn all that much (that's bound to get me some hate commentary-or Kate hommentary🤪), but I've watched that film like 10 times.

Why does Gene say this ridiculous patter about the choice between 'A' and 'B' -- and the suggested possible difference between them? Nobody knows anything about the 'difficulty' of any question whether in A or B: in fact it's totally random, and either A or B could give rise to an unfair (because too open-ended) question. I wonder why his 'defence' is part of the script. It's nonsense.
