Head-to-head match "_____________ Shooter" (semi-spoiler alert) .... The first thing that came to mind was "straight shooter" -- I know! ;-) but I changed to "six shooter". I groaned when the contestant gave his answer, but you never know... Charles' answer was actually really good, and in retrospect maybe the best option. Then I laughed when Gene rattled off the two choices I'd thought of. A tough one this time! No big money for the contestant.

I think just like you do. I first thought "straight", then thought "six", but stuck with straight because CNR wrote too much for a three letter word. "Sharp" never even entered my mind, but when I saw it, that seemed to be the best answer.

It was obvious when I heard her second-round question that no answer on earth could possibly match all six celebrities. There were too many possibilities, but no really good answer. ---- Luck of the draw, as her opponent got a Cleopatra question. Those come up about once a month and the definitive answer is always "asp," although sometimes a new celebrity might give a different answer.

Cleopatra and asp go together like bread and butter. Whenever there has been a sentence on the show with Cleopatra it's usually phrased so that the best fill-in the blank is asp. This is because it is widely believed that Cleopatra committed suicide by allowing herself to be bitten by a venomous asp.

That comes out to 117 successes in 333 tries. To get a predicted success score, you'd take the observed data plus 93/265. And sometimes the ‘Stars’ seem to give logical answers and sometimes it seems like they aren’t taking the game seriously and giving horrible answers… I was surprised to notice that there was never any controversies (at least listed under Wikipedia) for the Match Game. It would be easy for the ‘Stars’ to pick who they wanted to win or lose, by giving good answers and giving bad answers.
