Robin is adorable and has great style. Glad to see her having such good luck with Brett.

She and Brett have been on the same wavelength the past two shows. And Robin was smart enough to choose a celebrity she was clicking with rather than just following the crowd. She's already won a good chunk of change for a 19-year-old in 1975! I have a feeling she'll use it wisely.

Brett scores her 12th H/H match today! ...and her tenuous lead over Richard grows... Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 80% (4 wins in 5 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Betty - 50% (15 wins in 30 attempts). Fannie - 46.7% (7 wins in 15 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 38.7% (12 wins in 31 attempts). Richard - 36.6% (85 wins in 232 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 448, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

Rumor has it the line Bogart actually said was "Play it. Sam." Somehow everyone always remembers it as having "again" in the phrase and it paid off well here!!

It went, "Go ahead. Play it! You played it for her, you can play it for me."

And there was the Allen play and 1972 movie "Play It Again, Sam" that helped solidify that (misquoted) phrase. Another common misquote is Oliver Hardy saying, "Here's another fine mess..." when he actually said "nice mess."

Imagine how many games they could play if Gene didn't have to babysit Brett.
@deanstrand42603 жыл бұрын
That's probably why Gene was always rushing everyone to write their answers.
@todddepue6813 жыл бұрын
Yes well, imagine how bland the show would be without all the different personalities. If you want an efficient game show, watch Password (just as enjoyable in its own way). As Charles Nelson Reilly famously said, MG was more of a social occasion than a game show. And they obviously liked it that way. Brett had legions of fans. She's kinda like Lucy in Peanuts...even if you can't stand her, she's a necessary part of the dynamic.
@LynxSouth3 жыл бұрын
It was a late-afternoon break, a bit of relaxation after school or just before starting to fix dinner and the evening rush. Match Game was popular because it was FUN, and what Brett would find to complain about was just part of it. We didn't want timed efficiency.
@LarryTaint-qn8pd2 жыл бұрын
Yea, having to repeat the question over and over, always talking in the background while Gene's trying to conduct the show, her snootiness towards any attractive females that cross her path and just plain belligerence. She can't stop talking for 2 seconds. I think she thinks it's her show. I know Gene has to remind her often who's show it is.
