H/H match update: ... Today's action: Gene often says the first round questions are the hardest, but the champion scored six matches ("Richard Nixon") on her first-round question. The challenger needed to match the remaining five celebs with her second-round question, but fell one short when Richard "sat" instead of "tinkled" like everyone else. (Even Patti had the matching answer.) Today's audience match question: "Chest _________ " (My lousy thoughts: of Drawers, Hair, -nuts, ???) The celebs: Richard (X-rays), George (Pains), and Brett (Cold) -- First time in a long time that none of my lousy answers came up as suggestions. The choice: X-ray The answers: Nut (ha!), of Drawers (double ha!!), X-ray -- (Well, my answers weren't quite as lousy as I had thought!) It's hard to get overly excited about the H/H match today. I'm 99.99% certain the champion will choose Richard again... She picks Richard again. He has now been chosen for 20 of the 22 most recent head-to-heads, and he matched ten of those times so far (not counting a possible match today, as I don't know the result yet). He and this champion matched last time, but Richard missed the four times prior to that. Today's H/H question: "_______Gum" (I predict another match today. Chewing gum seems obvious.) Richard decides quickly and glances at Patti as he files his answer. The champion confidently answers "Bubble." Okay, maybe my answer wasn't as obvious as I'd thought. Bubble sounds like a great choice here. I've got the video paused as I try to decide which answer I like better. I think I'll stick with my first thought, but now I'm not so sure that we'll have a match. A little drama after all! The champion says she was going to say "chewing." Interesting. ESP? Influenced by the audience shouting out answers? "No, you were right the first time," says Richard as he pulls out his card: "Chewing." -- No ESP this time. I feel bad for the champion.
