“Hot and Nasty” is a song by Black Oak Arkansas released in 1971 (warning: lyrics ARE nasty). Gene and the “stars” were too old to listen to rock and roll, lol. Sometimes Richard knows some singers/bands, but the rest are like “I’ve never heard of that” or Brett’s often and incessant proclamation of “What is THAT???” 🙄

I remember being surprised about 80 or so episodes back when Brett sang the refrain from "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree." As you said, the panel often seemed oblivious to then-current pop and rock music. I guess that was the exception.

Three answers for the duck soup question, webbed feet is one of them, the others are bills and feathers. Patti is so awesome
@kevansf Жыл бұрын
My first thought was webbed feet, but I thought it wouldn't get many matches, so I went for feathers. I felt bad that the audience booed the champion for saying webbed feet. And Patti is hysterical! I love it every time she's on, starting the moment she gives that look to the camera as Johnny O announced the celebrities.

H/H match update: ... Today's action: "One more, Prune Face, and he wins the game!" says Gene to Patti at a crucial moment in the action. Well, actually, he said, "One more "prune face" and he wins the game." (Thus illustrating the importance of punctuation.) And how does Patti respond? She reveals her "wrinkles" and the champ wins his second game! Today's audience match question: "Hot and _________ " (My thoughts: Cold, Spicy, Humid) The celebs: Richard (Cold), Gene (Heavy), and Lee (Spicy) The choice: Cold The answers: Heavy, Nasty, Cold Not too much of a guessing game today: Our contestant matched with Richard last time, so it's almost a sure bet he'll stick with Richard this time. Yes, it's Richard. Today's H/H question: "_______ Brush" (I think toothbrush is the most generic answer. Hair brush and paint brush sound like also-rans in this case.) Richard writes his answer and files it in about five seconds flat. Our champion gives the predicted answer. I can't imagine Richard saying anything different, so I'm predicting another match today! Strangely, the audience doesn't sound thrilled. More like they're fifty-fifty. Still, Richard has been on a winning streak and has been consistently giving the best possible answer lately. Well there's a shock: Richard wrote "Hair." It hasn't happened all too often lately, but I think the contestant gave a better answer than Richard this time. No match today. Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Charles - 51.0% (27 wins in 53 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (18 wins in 36 attempts). Fannie - 47.8% (11 wins in 23 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 41.7% (188 wins in 451 attempts). Brett - 41.3% (26 wins in 63 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 764, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
