Here we are watching ~45 years after the original run… I wonder if people will still be watching 45 years from now.

H/H match update: ... Today's action: Hard to believe it's 1977 already! Once again, it's Joey who hands our champion a victory - his fifth now - with his "Nose." Today's audience match question: "Bat ________" (My thoughts: Man, Cave, Mobile) The celebs: Fannie (Man), Brett (Boy), Joey (-ter up) The choice: Man The answers: And Ball, Boy, Man First time our champ has gotten the top answer (100, 100, 250, 0, 500). It's also noteworthy that this champion tends to mix it up when calling on celebs for suggestions. He's asked everyone on the panel at least once now, and Brett was his only repeat selection today. Some of my favorite champions have been the ones who choose several different celebs for the head-to-head, and this champion seems to be headed in that direction. Here's his H/H history so far: 1) Richard (match) -- 2) Richard (match) -- 3) Charles (no match) -- 4) Audience match fail -- 5) ?? I'd say Richard 30%, Charles 30%, Fannie 30%, Brett 10% He comes home to Richard. Mr. Dawson has matched 24 of his 63 most recent attempts (37.1%) and 7 of his last 20 attempts (35.0%). Today's H/H question: "Jack and _______" (The producers obviously decided they wanted to start the year off on a winning note, so they selected the easiest question ever in the history of the head-to-head match. Seriously, there's only one answer and I'm 99.99% sure we'll get a match today.) Even Gene is chuckling and joking about how easy this one is. The contestant says the obvious. ("Jill.") Richard scores his 223rd H/H match today. (And he pulls ahead of Brett on the leader board again for the umpteenth time.) Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Charles - 51.6% (33 wins in 64 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). TIE: Fannie - 50.0% (13 wins in 26 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 41.2% (223 wins in 541 attempts). -- 41.21996% Brett - 41.2% (28 wins in 68 attempts). -- 41.17647% Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 873, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced.

Frederick-Crom, round 1, question B: "No, see, in this version, Bambi's mother gets killed by a dinosaur, so Kong ADOPTS him." (Bzzt!) Round 2, question A: "Not unless you plan to get a massage at the HEALTH INSPECTOR'S OFFICE." (Bzzt!) Question B: (just holding up the card, probably) NOSE Super Match, part 1: (if asked before Fannie) MAN (if asked between Fannie and Brett) BOY (if asked after Brett) MOBILE Part 2: JILL Frederick-Zwelling, round 1, question B: "Makes sense to me; who speaks French at a CHINESE RESTAURANT?" (Ding!) Question A: "See, I figured she was like someone out of a horror movie, so I said she had a SNAKE PIT in her house…" (Bzzt!)
