Gene was probably thinking "it sure is hard to get good help around here" when he opened the doors.When a game show contains bloopers ,it makes the show that much more fun to watch.

H/H match update: (Spoilers) ~~~~~ Trivia: This PM episode was taped on September 18, 1976. This week's stars and their total appearances on the daytime series: Brett Somers (286 weeks total. First week: 11-15; Final week: 1451-1455) Richard Dawson (257 weeks total. First week: 1-5; Final week: 1281-1285) Charles Nelson Reilly (235 weeks total. First week: 11-15; Final week: 1441-1445) Betty White (75 weeks total. First week: 11-15; Final week: 1421-1425) Bill Daily (15 weeks total. First week: 101-105; Final week: 1451-1455) Lee Meriwether (12 weeks total. First week: 116-120; Final week: 1436-1440) Another week with a very familiar panel of celebrities. The first five stars appear (with their head-to-head stats for the '73-'79 daytime series) on the big leader board below. The remaining panelist, Lee, matched on 2 of her 3 H/H questions (on the daytime series). This means that every panelist has matched at least two head-to-head questions. We don't get panels like this too often. Our contestant choose Charles first for both Audience Match questions, and took Charles's suggestion both times, winning the maximum $1,000. He goes on to choose Charles for the H/H. This is only the third time that Charles has answered a PM H/H question (episodes 5 and 24 were the other two). For today's H/H, I'll say Rise and "Shine." It was (and is) a popular expression and is also part of a familiar children's camp song ("The Arky Arky Song" aka "Children of the Lord"). "Fall" says today's winning contestant. The audience is clearly less than thrilled. I'd say it's a valid, even good, answer. As in "the rise and fall of the Roman Empire" or whatever. But I still like my answer better. No surprise to me, I matched Charles. ~~~~~ Here are the H/H stats for the PM series so far: Star: Matches/Attempts/Match % Charles: 2/3/66.7% Brett: 3/5/60.0% Richard: 22/37/59.5% EBR*: 5/13/38.5% Betty: 0/1/0% Dick Gautier: 0/1/0% Scoey Mitchell: 0/1/0% Fannie: 0/2/0% *EBR = Everybody but Richard. Just like it sounds, a combination of everyone but Richard, for the sake of comparison. *Includes the results of all head-to-head matches in the "Match Game PM" series from episode 1 through episode 51 (note: there was no H/H match in episode 11 due to a double audience match fail). For comparison, here are the stats for the complete "Match Game 7x" series (including only the stars who scored at least 3 matches): Star: Matches/Attempts/Match % Orson Bean: 4/4/100% Jo Anne Worley: 3/4/75.0% Debralee Scott: 4/6/66.7% Gary Burghoff: 8/14/57.1% Joyce Bulifant: 4/7/57.1% Charles: 48/94/51.1% Elaine Joyce: 3/6/50.0% Betty: 25/53/47.2% Fannie: 21/45/46.7% Jo Ann Pflug: 8/18/44.4% Bill Daily: 4/9/44.4% Marcia Wallace: 3/7/42.9% Richard: 373/878/42.5% Brett: 45/110/40.9% Bert Convy: 5/15/33.3% Nipsey Russell: 3/12/25.0% *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1455, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. (Note: episode 849 was never produced.) These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036. These stats do, however, include results of episodes 1309 through 1317, found on channels other than this one. (For missing episode 1406, the results of the second H/H have been revealed and are included in these stats, but it's unknown which celeb played the first H/H, which was not a match.)

You know, Match Game is a really good quiz show with an interesting format but I think the real reason people loved it so much was because of the antics of the host and stars. Anything was liable to break out. As annoying as he was, Gary Burghoff literally trashed the stage on one of the daytime episodes. I really can't think of any other game show where random stuff like this breaksout. And the reason is Gene Rayburn. They gave him a very long leash and he played it very very well.

Unfortunately, it seemed she had little affinity for the show. By that I mean her entire personality tone didn't match with Gene and the panel, and it seemed as if she'd never really watched the show before, judging by the answers she came up with. (I guess "ladies' room" wasn't all that awful, considering she did score one match, thanks to Brett.) Perhaps she was just nervous? Seems unlikely given her maturity and life experiences, but who knows. Anyway, Brett was right: she was lovely and made a striking choice in her attire.

I can’t believe he said rise and fall that doesn’t even make sense. Of course, it is rise and shine.

I think it's rude when the contestants don't applaud for Gene when he comes out! Then they don't thank the stars who helped with the audience matches, so rude! It almost makes me glad when they don't win the head to head!
@markleighton865519 күн бұрын
I always believed it was quite unusual. Why some of the celebrities don't applaud is another valid question

For the question about the nurse staying away from old Mr. P because every time she passes by, his _______ goes up: My first thought was "periscope". I wasn't expecting a match, but I definitely would've said that if I were a panelist. (It sounds like something Patti might answer.) When the contestant said "blood pressure" I thought that was the definitive answer (it had occurred to me too). But the entire lower tier surprisingly answered "Temperature".

Everytime Gene mentions the ESP crap between the contestants and the celebs . they almost always end up lossing . Is like he jinxes them or something.
