With the hit to the Chilean player's face, it was an immediate expulsion and the game changed. Maybe Chile won or tied, but they did not lose this match. Canada, for its part, could not win it either, therefore, there is no need to feel superior.

Where do you get that from? I'm Canadian, and played organized soccer as a kid. It was a good way to keep in shape for hockey. lol. These days several of my nieces and nephews play organized soccer as well. I've been a fan of the international game for around five decades give or take. Same for many of the friends I've known over those years. Canada has very large immigrant populations from virtually every country that plays on the world stage. Those folks don't stop being fans just because they moved to Canada. It's not our top sport, I'll give you that, but to say "no one likes it" is just flat-out wrong.
