@knokeconnie87 жыл бұрын
I agree, Stormy. Sebastian hasn't studied the torque of cheetah vs TB vs QH...and never felt being shot out of a cannon when the QH drops and launches. It's about confirmations (point of hip, slope, genetics) the information is out there and C-Bass, you may want to dig deep on this subject. The research is out there. Just takes effort to find it. Off the start, the Cheetah loses but wins a few seconds into the run.Believe me, I've researched the hell out this. Ya know, in case Stormy and I are on Jeopardy!, we'll get this one right! And it's not an estimation. Statistics and probability curves have given extremely high confidence levels unless on a 3-legged horse. I don't mean to come off as abrasive but I don't respond well to unfounded pseudo-facts. Can't refute the truth. Science speaks with repeated testing. And yes, top speed in two strides. And what a feeling and comparing the cheetah, the stride is what gives the QH the advantage: the "hang time" between strides and the short-coupled athleticism of a QH. And speed is relative when talking about top speed in two strides. A pony can be at top speed in two strides but there is a BATTERY of studies on QH v TB v Cheetah. LD, the QH will lose due to oxygen exchange in the mass of muscle. Hence, you don't see QH's win the AERC Tevis Cup. It's physiology at its finest and SOOOOOO cool!

There is a lot of cross reference here. A Quarter Horse will 90% of the time blow away a thoroughbred in the 1/4 mile from a STANDING START. Beautiful! Keep in mind that QH's have Thoroughbred lineage...early colonists in America bred Chickasaw ponies with the Thoroughbred stock they brought from England. @TheManormen4 жыл бұрын
Plus the QH 870 has no run up, the TB has a run up before the official distance. In this race the QH people wanted no run up but the TB people did and it did have a run up. Run-up is the distance traveled before the timing of the race begins. It gives horses a running start. The timing of the race doesn’t begin until the first horse hits the point where the official distance of the race begins, commonly referred to as tripping the beam. This horse triggers the beginning of the electronic timing of the race. So that extra distance they had to run probably effected the outcome by a few inches or more.

Nope. Their legs are too short. Although, I saw a very small grey gelding (can’t remember his name) who was barely 15 hands who won the stadium jumping class at the Grand National at the Cow Palace in SF in the late ‘70s. He was amazing, and retired that year. I think Shirley Temple presented his award at the retirement ceremony, if I remember correctly. I was 16 and worked at a tack shop called Rowell’s Saddlery at the time, and we had a booth there. The former owner, Cecil Jones, was an old pro rodeo cowboy and he introduced me to Slim Pickens, an old cowboy actor. He taught me to play Liar’s Dice! It was such a fun time. I also showed my 2-year-old mare in halter against the pro trainers! I almost won my class against the best AQHA filly in the country, ‘She’s a Cover Girl.’ The judge walked back and forth between my mare, ‘Hobby’s Melody’ until he saw Melody flex her knee. She was ‘over at the knee’ from growing quickly-still a conformation flaw, darn!! He gave Cover Girl 1st and Melody got 6th! One of my best show memories! :o)

I mean....the quarter horse was in the lead at the *quarter* mile😂 I know Griswold is considered a "distance racer" for a quarter horse, but Im not surprised the TB beat him, world record holder or not. They're sorta _meant_ to be beaten at longer distances, it's just not what they're built for

As a person with no pride in any breed, I can comment that it looked just like a match race two racehorses... Umm... I will say that a quarter horse is kind of a sprinter and it wasn't EXACTLY a sprint but wasn't over a mile either or was it basically ...6 furlongs? Anyway, you get my point...No need to argue. Both fine race horses.
@suzanneyoung80114 жыл бұрын
It was four furlongs which equals a half mile. A long distance race for a Quarter Horse is usually 870 yards, which is 10 yards shorter than this race. Many times they race against more Thoroughbreds in 870 yard races, so the Thoroughbreds win that distance the majority of the time.
@drewgarland17727 жыл бұрын

If it was 350 yards, the QH would've left the TB in the dust. With that said, 2 different horses bred for different kind of racing. Its really not an even match to race the breeds against each other.

it might look like a repeat of Secretariats Belmont Stakes win at or beyond a mile. I expected a huge win for the quarter horse at a quarter mile but I guess a good sprinter can hold its own.

@kglenn125510 жыл бұрын
***** Saddlebreds are NOT bred for dressage or jumping. they're a gaited breed, similar to Tennessee Walkers, who were initially bred for the military and for use on the plantations of Kentucky. get YOUR facts straight before you jump on others. they also have a huge dosage of TB blood, so, they might be fast, but in general they won't be beating TBs on the track anytime soon.

Only once did Man O War ever actually run. Most of the time he was just galloping. The one time he did run, was when he was way behind when the others took off, combined with stumbling as he got turned around, he galloped his usual pace for a spell as he caught up, but the jockey waiting too long, he had to go urge Man O War to really poured it on. When he did, he set the world record for 2 furlongs (a 1/4 mile). He still holds that record. That race is the only one he loss, which was due to rider error b4 the race even started. The horse who won was called Upset, whom Man O War beat easily several times b4 & after this particular race.

My 4yr Shiro that's his name he's 17.1 hands and is a tb/qh/mustang can clock out at 51 mh he's also an asshole can't really ride him because he bolts an with kick he's ill tempered almost tore the farriers face off he's never coming back he will not let almost anyone touch and trying to might cost you, either your life or a few fingers 😐 he bits and he won't let you go and will most likely drag you .. he's been called multiple names by my neighbors and family like for example the horse from hell or Satan's ride or fucker. he's busted my six foot fence that holds him in his pasture on multiple occasions because he's tried to jump it and many times was very successful almost lost him one time before because he jumped the fence like a god damn deer I watched Shiro do it as I was looks out my kitchen window I was in complete disbelief I had to go out and try to catch him which is pretty much almost nearly impossible because he's holy fuck fast and can easily out maneuver my truck when trying to find him after he jail breaks.... I thought about giving him up for adoption but... I don't want to give up on him like his last owner I just don't what to do with my 1,345 lb brat By the way he is very beautiful his color is red chestnut with black mane and tail and a black line from his mane to his tail and all four white stockings and on his forehead a star which looks more like a heart in my opinion
