While I thank you for mentioning the 1.4 turbo is mated exclusively to the manual and 2.4 mated exclusively to the automatic, you guys missed a rather important factor for the drivetrain/powertrain packaging. Only the Renegade can be packaged with the 1.4T/6spd with all-wheel drive; the base model 500X Pop - the only trim available with the 1.4T/6spd - is only front-wheel drive.

As much as I like the Renegade for its fuel efficiency, its really apparent the Renegade is a FIAT underneath it all. Almost not a true Jeep. It makes the Jeep Renegade seam like some Bi girl thats unsure of its orientation.

The 9speed has some real issues , other wise I'd snap the trailhawk version right up , guess I will have to wait a couple years until they get it right , 4 bangers just not interested in them .

Get the manual trans and you won't have to worry. My wife just bought a 2018 Renegade. It's a limited edition Latitude/Altitude, loaded with a dual pane electric sunroof and everything except remote start. 26 grand with all fees on a sticker price of $30,115. It's certainly not fast, but the turbo 1.4L is adequate and makes more torque than the 2.4.... much better to have a manual trans with a small engine.

@@craigstevenson7708 it means parts are plentiful and cheap. My Jeep Compass has 299,012 miles on it already with no major problems. Original engine, original CVT.

Is it my imagination or does the Jeep Renegade seem to offer a rougher, bouncier ride than the 500x? I drove the limited JR and a 500x lounge model. I'm not interested in offroading. Had to have some time lapse between them since the dealers are so far apart here so hard to go from one straight to the other and keep the impressions clear. FIAT is also offering some great incentives in arizona - jeep notsomuch. Makes the price considerably less on the fiat.
