When is the Latest to take USMLE Step 2CK for 2021 Match?

This depends on the candidate. If there are any areas of "concern" in the application, especially for IMGs, having Step 1 and 2 before Sep. 15th can be very helpful to alleviate this potential issues.

@@matcharesident I thought American med students also take their Step 2 CK pretty early? I am a UK graduate, but I have been following youtube channels run by US med students, and somehow they take Step 2 CK at the end of the 3rd year (so that they can submit the score in Sep). I guess this is not the norm?

You need to verify with the ECFMG about your eligibility requirements! That is the only way to be certain.

If you are about to take CK, then you will have it at the ready for the 2021-22 cycle - which is certainly a plus for your application!

Hi! This video is from last year. For this current cycle, you'll need to have your Step 2CK scores on or before the Rank Order List Deadline of 3/2/22.

The sooner you get the exam done, the higher your chances for success. Missing components always detract from your overall applicant strength. Generally speaking however, the same logic applies for Step 1 - although the dates may change for the upcoming cycle
