As an American I love Mika Immonen. There's something about his stoicism that makes me think deep down he might love the game more than any other player ever. Just watch his face every game. Everything matters so much. He's my favorite player.

The commentators are obsessed with Earl's antics, complaining that it's basically uncalled for, that it doesn't help him, etc. Reality check: Earl is one of the greatest pool players ever and he's always been like that. It's part of his personality. He can't switch it off. If he tried to suppress his emotions, he would probably lose. He needs to let off steam.

I love Earl he’s a Gunfighter. I’ve met Efren and I’ve met Earl. Earl has always been approachable and willing to talk about the game. Efren is much more reserved, very quiet

Shane definitely looked up to Earl at one point when he was just an up and comer in the pool world, now he is playing by his side. Congrats Shane! Those who knew him when he was younger knew he would be competing with the best someday!

People say earl is emotional, but if anyone has ever seen mika play in person, he is quite possibly the most emotional player I've ever seen. Hes just not as vocal, he whines rather silently but its still just as noticeable and actually hampers him.

He is also one of the best to *ever* play the game, and only a fool would see his accomplishments and say otherwise. There have been plenty of bombastic blowhards in all realms of competitive sports. Pool is no different, and Earl is the patron saint of the blowhard guild. Doesn't mean they're not good; just means if they're on fire and you have a glass of water you're more apt to drink the water and watch the show.

These commentators always do a great job but I wish pool commentators in general had more respect for player mics. In F1, when there's a TV team radio, whoever's speaking, whether in the booth or reporting in a rainy pit lane, quiets immediately. It's a shame when these great commentators talk straight over the players.

He's not doing it for anybody's benefit or anybody's peril. Shane can't hear him anyway. Not to sound crass but he's legally deaf and he's a professional. He's not listening to that. Earl considers the handshake at the end of a match, a sign of respect for how he thinks his opponent played, and if he thinks his opponent was lucky or not. It might be better if he just respected the professional opposite him regardless of how the match went, but that's not how Earl rolls.
