Radiator Springs is based on very real towns along Route 66. Even though so many towns along the route have been abandoned, you do have that handful of independent store owners that have held out over the years in their little towns. Somehow they’ve managed, and those who meet them talk about how wonderful they are. ❤️

The blue car (The King) is actually based on the real-life race car driver Richard "The King" Petty, who is universally considered the greatest NASCAR driver of all time. The crash at the end of the climatic final race is based on Rusty Wallace's crash in 1993 at Talladega, in which Rusty's car flipped over 20 times.

The reason why McQueen didnt go for a pit stop in the first minutes of the movie is because he avoids being trapped in the middle or behind. How it works is the first cars that finishes the pit stop early gets to position in front

A LOT of people give Cars flack but honestly it's just a nice comfort movie. Cars and Cars 3 are simple but nice. Not to mention they look amazing. Cars 3 especially. The animators had to play in mud in order to figure out how to animate Lightning being covered in it. They also studied how light reflects off real vehicles for accuracy and it shows in the stadium scenes. Pixar's attention to detail is what separates them from the rest.

If you’re car guys, the amount of subtle details are astounding, the flex of the tire sidewalls in turns, the suspension motion, the specular highlights on the chrome and paint, even the rubber ‘marbles’ on the edge of the tracks (loose worn rubber from tire wear), and the unique sound of each car and exhaust… And King’s crash at the end of the race? A nearly frame-by-frame recreation of an actual NASCAR crash… kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKq8ZqZql86Nfac Also, keep an eye out for Car #84, which has an Apple Computer logo on his hood, it’s an obscure reference to the original 1984 Apple Macintosh, Steve Jobs, CEO of Pixar at the time also started Apple Computer with his friend Steve “Woz” Wozniak.

Bruh can you IMAGINE animating all those cars in the race track and audience though. That must've took a lot of modeling and work it's insane. Also not a lot of people notice it, but I noticed during the final race when someone else brought it up elsewhere, Strip smiled when Lightning was about to take the win. I really liked that because it's like he wanted Lightning to cross, seeing as he was willing to give advice (even if Lightning didn't hear a damn thing lmao). And even kept Chick from passing him. Dude's honestly a team player and really chill for a competitor. :D (I imagine he and Chick were meant to contrast Lightning in a way, with Strip being the better side of him whereas Chick Hicks is what would be Lightning had he stayed arrogant and festered in it instead of improving. But that's just a theory of mine) You guys really need to check out Ratatouille, it was and still is Pixars' magnum opus movie and holds up today.

Nascars average about 200 miles an hour, but they could go faster, they are just prohibited from doing so, famous examples of cars breaking these regulations were the 1969/70 Dodge Daytona, and it's brother Plymouth Superbird (the King is a Superbird btw) which reached speeds of 240 in the late 60's and early 70's by breaking the rules with an ingenious restrictor plate design before they were banned from competing in Nascar. Cars reaching 240 in modern time is hard enough, you need specialized tires and decent aerodynamics, so for cars to have been reaching that in the 70's when production model motors had 300-400 horse power is pretty spectacular.

In real NASCAR the reason for changing tires is they do actually wear them down over one race and lose traction. They are going around 150-200mph depending on the track (I don't know kilometer translation sorry) and at the speed the slight traction loss can be huge. NASCAR is honestly pretty boring to watch on TV, much better experience live where you can feel the rumble and hear nothing but the roar of their engines for hours lol.

👉 "Cars 1" is an amazing movie. It was part of my entire childhood! I'm currently 18 years old (I'll be 19 on June 24th) and I still love this movie. Every time I watch it I cry 😢🥺🥺 I'll never forget this movie! 🥺😢😭😭

Loved the reaction, the connecting the cars to humans is always fun. But don’t overthink it, it’s like Toy Story only so far you can go in dissecting it. I saw someone else recommend a movie that will also drive you nuts figuring it’s world out: Shark Tale. Has Will Smith, Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, and musicians from Ziggy Marley, Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott.

from denmark but i was on a Harley roadtrip through USA back in 2013 when i was still a kid together with my dad and one of the towns we came through was Seiligman which the movie is based off, before we got there we had no idea it was actually a real town so it was super awesome to see and one of my most fond memories from that trip. also if some of you ever go to Seiligman i would recommend checking out a restaurant which is along the road not too far away named Roadkill, as the name suggest it is entirely themed around well "roadkill" like menu names being stuff along the lines of "run over skunk" etc. very cool place and great food if memory serves right :)
