Radiator Springs is based on very real towns along Route 66. Even though so many towns along the route have been abandoned, you do have that handful of independent store owners that have held out over the years in their little towns. A LOT of people give Cars flack but honestly it's just a nice comfort movie. Cars and Cars 3 are simple but nice. Not to mention they look amazing. Cars 3 especially. The animators had to play in mud in order to figure out how to animate Lightning being covered in it. They also studied how light reflects off real vehicles for accuracy and it shows in the stadium scenes. Pixar's attention to detail is what separates them from the rest.

Bruh can you IMAGINE animating all those cars in the race track and audience though. That must've took a lot of modeling and work it's insane. Also not a lot of people notice it, but I noticed during the final race when someone else brought it up elsewhere, Strip smiled when Lightning was about to take the win. I really liked that because it's like he wanted Lightning to cross, seeing as he was willing to give advice (even if Lightning didn't hear a damn thing lmao). And even kept Chick from passing him. Dude's honestly a team player and really chill for a competitor. :D (I imagine he and Chick were meant to contrast Lightning in a way, with Strip being the better side of him whereas Chick Hicks is what would be Lightning had he stayed arrogant and festered in it instead of improving. But that's just a theory of mine) You guys really need to check out Ratatouille, it was and still is Pixars' magnum opus movie and holds up today.

A nearly frame-by-frame recreation of an actual NASCAR crash… kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKq8ZqZql86Nfac Also, keep an eye out for Car #84, which has an Apple Computer logo on his hood, it’s an obscure reference to the original 1984 Apple Macintosh, Steve Jobs, CEO of Pixar at the time also started Apple Computer with his friend Steve “Woz” Wozniak.

Nascars average about 200 miles an hour, but they could go faster, they are just prohibited from doing so, famous examples of cars breaking these regulations were the 1969/70 Dodge Daytona, and it's brother Plymouth Superbird (the King is a Superbird btw) which reached speeds of 240 in the late 60's and early 70's by breaking the rules with an ingenious restrictor plate design before they were banned from competing in Nascar. Cars reaching 240 in modern time is hard enough, you need specialized tires and decent aerodynamics, so for cars to have been reaching that in the 70's when production model motors had 300-400 horse power is pretty spectacular.

In real NASCAR the reason for changing tires is they do actually wear them down over one race and lose traction. They are going around 150-200mph depending on the track (I don't know kilometer translation sorry) and at the speed the slight traction loss can be huge. NASCAR is honestly pretty boring to watch on TV, much better experience live where you can feel the rumble and hear nothing but the roar of their engines for hours lol.
