This is delightful old Laswell....and I love it! He started blowing me away back in the eighties, and at 64, I continue to dig him and his funky coolness...no one like him, anywhere. He puts together the most ingenious groups of master musicians and takes us out there!!! Thank you Mr. Laswell....and thanks to funknrol l for posting it.the

Funk, rock and disco, all fused together. I remember this one quite well. Among the last authentic disco tunes. 1981 was disco's last stand.

Actually it crossed over into New Wave and got airplay on WNYUs New Afternoon show. In 1980. I’m looking forward to former DJ Even “Funk” Davies” annual throwback show to that era on WFMU Wednesday from 12pm to 3pm EST. I will be listening via Alexa.

I used to date Nona's cousin Oscar back in the day. Nona was always so much fun to hang out with. I would run into her everywhere in Manhattan, elevators, subways, restaurants, clubs. She was always gracious.

The opening line on the description kills me: (funk) evolved from mambo, funky soul, psychedelic rock, free jazz, protest poetry. lol, okay Mr. Professor. If that's the case then the same could be said about any style of music originating from any other style you want to draw a line to, no matter how ridiculous. Funk originated from a fusion of Jazz and R&B. It's no more complicated than that, son. It was to the 70's what Jump was to the early 50's. Let's not over think this.
