I worked in a music store when the first Runaways record came out and I took it home the day it arrived. Been a fan of Joan Jett ever since. Never cared for the songs that Cherie sang on their records, she was obviously hired to be the singer and front entertainer but she was weak vocally. Meanwhile, the songs Joan Jett sang were much better, she was clearly the center of the Runaways and that proved to be the case after they broke up and all tried to make it on their own. Lita Ford can't write songs and Cherie never did anything musically worth noting. Joan Jett is a star talent.

Among all the great music and vocals, Sly is playing a "wah-wah" acoustic Fender Telecaster, using his thumbnail as a pick!

I never knew this was actually a good song! It makes the Soft Cell version sound a little better - but their version still sucks! Especially with all those synthetic non-musician sounds which since that time has a become a plague that helped destroy contemporary music.

The history of Northern Soul is well worth exploring. So much music of black origin that crossed the atlantic, which we came to enjoy but had passed the white half of America without notice. White British bands like the Beatles and the Stones sent it back and got it noticed. My favourite cover version of Tainted Love can be found in the movie "Our Ladies" - check it out - it is breathtaking.

I just heard this song for the first time on Little Stevie's Underground Garage, Sirius Radio. These girls were way before my time, but I loved the song. I did a look up on the band and both sisters passed away when they were 54 years old. I just had my dad listen to them, but he was only 9 years old when they're band broke up, but he said if they had came out in the 80's they would have made it big. The 60's he said was a male dominated music environment and very hard for bands like this to break out.

The original version with the amazing Glen Campbell (from The Wrecking Crew) on guitar. She rerecorded another version in 1976 with her boyfriend as producer, Marc Bolan from TRex.
