[ 1 1 -1] direction of family the direction is it right at 11.30 min?? I guess the origin will be [ 0 0 1] and it should go away from Z axes

On step 2 of Drawing directions from Indices, it says to reduce the indices to a maximum value of 1. However, on the examples at the bottom of the slide, you left the values greater than 1 (specifically the [246] example that was reduced to [123] ; there are values greater than 1). Is there an explanation for that?

I guess we need to reduce maximum value to 1 WHEN we are asked to draw the given indices in unit cell. Otherwise it will be outside of the unit cell.
