Definitely one of the more chaotic games I've seen. The gamey, pixelated collectibles with the retro leveling screen felt so divorced from the main game. But I think they're implying that trying to earn God's good graces is as obtuse a task as finding random collectibles. Honestly, I kind of dig it. But I laughed so hard when the devil started talking and then the enTIRE ROOM DESCENDED INTO HELL LIKE WHAT?! They were definitely smoking something when they made this, probably some indica. I just know shrooms were involved, too.

13:15 That's the early cyrillic alphabet! A basic equivalent would be old english versus modern english, some letters have been totally dropped etc. or even something like oracle bone script used for early Chinese versus modern chinese, they are totally unintelligible to each other--same goes for the sounds as well, there used to be rolled r's in some chinese languages but they were eventually dropped/phased out. This is a bit more tangential but vowel shifts/consonant shifts happen frequently in languages, like f's turning into p's, those p's turning into b's so on so forth. This happens in Arabic, like with the Levant region's Arabic having the p->f consonant shift. Linguistics :D

This is interesting. Talking about the Indo-European comparison, words of the same roots in English have the sound "f" and in Russian - the sound "p". Foan and pena (пена), flame и plamya (пламя), face and past' (пасть) and so on

Это потому, что английский произошел от русского(того старого, до Кириллицы). Зная оба языка ты видишь эти связи, русские корни в словах. Их сотни, если не тысячи. Одна клубника чего только стоит( с трав бери). Ну и многие слова русский потерял, христианство искоренило, того же медведя, ведь Бер имеет кучу корней, берлога, беркут, береза. И если в английском это просто буквы, в русском видится смысл. А насчёт П и F , так в латинице то F как иногда пишется? PH

This feels like it's going to be a very character driven story experience. Kinda trippy, feels like it's going to make you question morality, but in a fun way? Idk, I kinda like it.

Very interesting. In a lot of ways the pixel art items and font and chiptune style music can really be seen as a sort of commentary on the unreality of what the nun is experiencing. Is it really god and the devil or is it psychosis? the photo realistic video game almost "reality" breaking under those moments and leaking in that it is all a game, and the ui elements and music constantly reminding the player of the video game nature and discordance that causes is unique. Typically, in photo realistic games the idea is immersion into the world is a major priority so to see it so purposefully messed with is intriguing and I'd be interested in seeing more of the game myself.

This is pretty wild, not at all what I was expecting going in. I'm not sure how well these disparate elements fit together, but it probably makes more sense in the full game. I like the voice acting and the humor.

13:15 And yes, that tale is in russian, I can easily read it. It is Cyrillic letters, just a slightly remade copy of Latin letters.

@@Roma-tz9vg I think he meant that ЗоЩенко has nothing with latin letters - and I'd say that there is no much evidences to say what type of letters was first - latin, greek, old-slavik eyc. I highly doubt that slavik nations get their letters and writing language from roma republic/empire and latin language.

@@Elgrinn We can't say anything for sure, but Cyrillic looks like a dated copy of Latin way more than copy of any other writing system. Even the very order of letters in alphabet matches at places. Consideration that Rome Empire predated any other European civilization by a couple of thousands year gives us an overall idea what came first. And there's no evidence that Slavic tribes have had any writing system at all.

Would not be opposed to seeing this one continued when it releases. 😃 I find the music choices so interesting. They say that we're stepping into an alternate-history Russia; but it also feels like stepping into an alternate-history modern-day, where what we consider appropriate music for a given scene and setting is different 😄. I think that in terms of presentation, the game challenges expectations. But in terms of gameplay? It doesn't feel like it's doing anything subversive. That said, I'm definitely in it for the story, so I don't need the gameplay to be super original

What an intriguing game. I'd watch you play it for sure. I wonder if the setup is some kind of war or revolution. Perhaps the guy wasn't a regular prisoner, but a POW? Russian history is filled with such.

Very trippy, but I'm already hooked. Reminds me of The Last of Us/Plague Tale. I love the presentation and music so far. I wish they used a different chapter to help us ease into it better, but I'm still intrigued. The collectibles and upgrading system remind me of Assassin's Creed, I wonder if that's any indication why they're so dissonant from the story?

the graphics are great and the story is interesting! i like discussing religion when its aspects are challenged so I'll have to keep an eye out for this one. though as you mentioned, the video game aspects are kinda jarring with the aesthetics of the gameplay, especially the points on the upper left. I don't mind the music but the sound effects when getting points feels out of place and takes me out of the immersion a bit. hope they change that when the game releases.

Personally, I don't like the setting. But otherwise the game looks interesting. Thought provoking questions about belief, sin, crime, temptation, survival. The UI font and icon style is an odd choice. Although chiptune sounds and music add a pinch of madness to the protagonist's mental state. I suspect that Indika is "possessed" in terms of that time period. She has some kind of mental illness.
