6:00 this fragment from Luke is part of "the parable of the lost son". There are a few lessons in this parable but the highlighted on in the game is to not hold the sin against the sinner who repented and tries to fix his sin. Both Ilya and Indica can be the lost sons, Ilya certainly found his faith and is trying his best to better himself. But Indica has some history that makes other nuns downright despise her and not accept her repentance ( pure speculation at this point). The points make me think that Indica misundertands faith, she is acting in accordance with scriptures but she doesn't belive in it. Like with determining which sin is worse she atributes points to acts of piety, pointlessly trying to measure her own faith. Ilya is good contrast for that, it's not about the points, it's about the change in yourself and will to do beter from now on.

This is what the letter said: Our beloved. but lost sister Indika There is no doubt that you will open this letter. Both the fear of God and even simple decency have long been empty words for you! I only hope that this will happen outside our gates and that we can be spared from any useless scandal. It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow that I write these lines, but, God says no longer have the right to tempt the nuns and scare away our already meager parish. The apostolic rule commands us to withdraw from every disorderly person and not communicate with him, and therefore I have no choice but the last one to transfer your further fate from the hands of our sisterhood into the hands of God. His judgment and mercy. Our prayers for the salvation of your soul will never cease. with sorrow and blessing, the abbess of the Epiphany Convent Varvara.

32:10 It's natural for something written over two thousand years ago to be interpreted differently at the time than it would be today. Also, the Bible is a collection of 66 books that were written by multiple authors over a span of hundreds of years.

Re: Religion in Russia. In modern days roughly 40% are Orthodox, 15% are atheist. Historically though, the freedom of religion act was signed in early 1905, so by the end of the 19th century ~80% were Orthodox, the rest ranging between "allowed to serve in the army" and "not counting as a citizen", mostly at Caucasus region.

That statistic doesn't really mean anything. Most people just identify as orthodox because it's traditional to Russian culture. But they've only been to church a few times in their life and don't know the most basic things about Orthodox Christianity.

@@sert87 That's true but Ortodox traditions are still deeply ingrained into the society, even after the USSR happened, and more so today. I'm an atheist from Russia who has been raised by parents who had soviet upbringing and do not identify as religious. Non of my parents were christened but they still go to church when someone dies to put up a candle for them. They may not know what the bible says or may not follow the rules but they are still aware of pretty much all orthodox traditions, some of which they follow. Same with me, even through I'm from a much younger generation, I understand pretty much all of the context in this game.

First sign says: "WARNING: In case of an emergency on the experimental separate accelerator use the enterance on the dam side to enter the factory". Second: "We invite everyone to celebrate the second launch of the modernized experimental separate accelerator on March 2nd". Googled what that "separate accelerator" is, but nothing relevant to the mechanism in the game...

29:50 One of the big advantages of doing a shorter, linear game is that it lets a developer put a lot more focus on specific scenes and even with a much lower budget gives them the freedom to be a lot more creative with the presentation.

Christianity has been around since 1st century. You know how calendar is divided between BCE (Before the Common Era) and CE (the Common Era). Well, there's also a more religious terminology, BC (before Christ) and AD (anno Domini, lat. "in the year of the Lord"). The year when Jesus was born is AD 1 and so we have now AD 2024. As for the interpretations of the Bible and various traditions, it depends on the Christianity's branch. Indika portrays Eastern Orthodoxy. For example, the distinctive paintings you can find inside the houses, they're called icons btw, are strongly associated with that branch.

I'm no theologian and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. However I think you could make an argument that sinning requires having eaten from the tree of knowledge. If you don't have the capacity to understand the difference between good and evil and sinning requires doing something knowing it's wrong, then animals can't sin. Though you can poke a lot of holes in that argument.

I'm not a Christian either but in the west a lot of our calendar, holidays and more are basically directly related to Jesus and christianity. Like we're in 2024 because the year Jesus Christ was born was named quite later on year 1. That was calculated centuries later though, and currently his date of birth is thought to be a couple years earlier. It's the same thing with the Bible and many events related to religious history, a lot of it was written about decades or centuries after the facts, plus possibly modified and remodified for a few centuries more, depending on what the church or what each christian branch was more focused on. Either way, in the west there's still a lot of christian stuff regulating everyday life, even in countries or societies that are essentially laic and atheist.

It would be madness to try and invent a new calendar which would just be a lot of hassle. Dates are arbitrary anyway, which is why it doesn't really matter. Days of the week/months are named after ancient non-christian gods/people. Christians simply appropriated a lot of pagan stuff, or even older stories from Sumerians etc, and called it their own.

So, since you asked for any information on Christianity, so these small house-sanctuaries were common, any ordinary believer would have them to pay respects and be protected by God. Christianity, historically speaking, has been around many centuries and has many "faces" for sure, especially if you include the teachings of different churches.

The specific beginning of the divisions is hard to pin down since eastern and western Christianity had already begun to diverge culturally before this point, but the major turning point is in 1054, when the East-West schism occurred and the Patriarch of Constantinople broke away from Rome and Eastern Orthodoxy began to operate fully independently from the Catholic church: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East%E2%80%93West_Schism
